Lounge access rules change often — confirm in the lounge's app or the card's benefits page before you fly.
Amex Platinum vs Sapphire Reserve vs Venture X is the real choice for most people who want lounge access in 2026. The Amex Platinum ($895) has the biggest network, the Chase Sapphire Reserve ($795) is the best for travelers who bring a companion, and the Capital One Venture X ($395) is the cheapest way into a proprietary lounge network plus Priority Pass. If you're loyal to one airline, its club card usually beats all three at that airline's hubs.

Amex Platinum: the biggest network. You get Centurion Lounges at 16 US airports, Priority Pass with two free guests, Escape Lounges, Plaza Premium, and 10 Delta Sky Club visits a year when you fly Delta (visits reset Feb. 1, multiple entries within 24 hours count as one, extra visits are $50). The weak spot is guests: Centurion charges $50 per adult and $30 per child, and Sky Club guests are $50, unless you spend $75,000 a year. Lufthansa lounges left the Platinum benefit on Oct. 1, 2026. See Centurion Lounge locations.
Sapphire Reserve: best for couples and families. Two free guests at both Sapphire Lounges and Priority Pass is now the most generous guest policy of the three. The network is small, eight lounges (BOS, DFW, JFK — in limited operations — LGA, LAS, PHL, PHX, SAN) with LAX coming, but since Sapphire Lounges dropped out of Priority Pass on Aug. 15, 2026, they should be less crowded. Priority Pass restaurant credits are no longer included. See Chase Sapphire Lounge locations.
Venture X: best value if you fly solo. At $395 it costs less than half the others, and the travel credit and anniversary miles offset much of the fee (see the card page for current terms). The February 2026 changes made it worse for anyone with company: Capital One Lounge guests now pay $45 per adult, Priority Pass guests $35, and authorized users need a $125 add-on. See Capital One Lounge locations.
Citi Strata Elite
At $595, the Strata Elite gives you Priority Pass Select with two free guests per visit (authorized users get their own membership too, and you can show the card at the desk) plus four Admirals Club passes a year. Each pass is good for 24 hours on a same-day oneworld itinerary. It's a reasonable middle ground for someone who flies American a few times a year and wants Priority Pass, but four passes won't replace a club membership if you fly American often.
Airline club cards
- Delta SkyMiles Reserve ($650): 15 Sky Club visits a year, four guest passes a year, and Centurion Lounge access when you fly Delta on a ticket bought with the card. Spending $75,000 a year unlocks unlimited Sky Club visits under Delta's rules. See Delta Sky Club access.
- Citi AAdvantage Executive ($695 for new cardmembers since Aug. 23, 2026): a full Admirals Club membership for you plus two guests or immediate family. Up to three authorized users cost $175 total, and each gets their own Admirals Club access. See Admirals Club access.
- United Club card ($695): a full United Club membership with one adult guest plus dependent children under 18 (two adult guests once you reach All Access). See United Club access and our United cards guide.
- Atmos Rewards Summit ($395): eight Alaska Lounge passes a year, two per quarter, that expire at the end of each quarter. Each admits one adult plus up to two children.
If 80% of your flights are on one airline out of its hub, the airline card is usually the better lounge card: airline clubs are at every major gate area of the hub, while the bank lounges are in one terminal at a handful of airports.
Which card should you get?
- One card only, flies everyone: Amex Platinum if you'll use its credits; Venture X if you won't.
- Travels with a partner or kids: Sapphire Reserve (two free guests across its lounges and Priority Pass).
- Flies American mostly: Citi AAdvantage Executive, or Strata Elite if you fly American occasionally and want Priority Pass.
- Flies Delta mostly: Delta Reserve, or the Platinum if 10 Sky Club visits a year is enough.
- Flies United mostly: the United Club card.
- Flies Alaska or Hawaiian mostly: Atmos Rewards Summit.
Check which lounges are actually at your home airport before choosing. Our airport pages show this, for example DFW, which has Centurion, Chase and Capital One lounges all in Terminal D, versus AUS, which has none of them. For Priority Pass coverage by airport, see Priority Pass lounges in the USA. For welcome offers, see each card page.
FAQ
Which credit card has the most lounge access? The Amex Platinum. It combines Centurion Lounges, Priority Pass, Delta Sky Club visits on Delta flights, Escape Lounges and Plaza Premium. It also has the highest fee, $895.
Is the Venture X still worth it for lounge access after the 2026 changes? For solo travelers, yes. It's still the cheapest card with its own lounge network plus Priority Pass. If you usually bring guests, the $45 Capital One Lounge and $35 Priority Pass guest fees add up quickly.
Can I use Priority Pass at Chase Sapphire Lounges? Only with a Priority Pass from an eligible Chase card. Sapphire Lounges left Priority Pass on Aug. 15, 2026.
Which lounge card is best for families? The Sapphire Reserve, with two free guests at Sapphire Lounges and Priority Pass lounges. Amex and Capital One charge per guest unless you spend $75,000 a year.
Does the Amex Platinum get me into Delta Sky Clubs? Yes, 10 visits a year when you're flying Delta that day. After that, visits cost $50.
What's the cheapest card with real lounge access? The Venture X and the Atmos Rewards Summit, both $395. The Venture X covers more airports; the Summit only covers Alaska Lounges, with eight passes a year.
