Last updated: July 2026. This is a recently refreshed premium card — verify the current fee, credits and lounge terms on the issuer's page before you apply.
The Citi Strata Elite℠ Card is Citi's answer to the $500-plus premium tier — its shot at the Sapphire Reserve and Amex Platinum crowd. The pitch is a stack of annual credits that, if you actually use them, more than cover the fee, plus lounge access and a genuinely clever dining bonus that pays out most when you're most likely to spend: weekend nights out. Whether it's worth it comes down entirely to how many of the credits fit your real life.

What the points are worth
We value Citi ThankYou points at 1.8¢ each, and they transfer 1:1 to Citi's airline and hotel partners — the same list that makes the Strata Premier worthwhile. The Elite adds scale (bigger multipliers, bigger bonus) and perks, not a different currency. Our CPP formula, used in every example below:
(cash price − taxes/fees) ÷ points × 100 = cents per point (CPP)
A 75,000-point bonus is therefore worth:
- $750 cashed out (don't) ·
- roughly $1,350 at our 1.8¢ valuation ·
- $2,500+ aimed at a premium-cabin sweet spot.
Where your points can go
The Strata Elite's ThankYou points transfer to these airline and hotel programs — tap any partner to see how to use those points, what they're worth, and the best redemptions:

Earning rates
| Rate | Category |
|---|---|
| 12x | Hotels, car rentals & attractions via CitiTravel.com |
| 6x | Air travel via CitiTravel.com |
| 6x | Restaurants — Friday & Saturday, 6pm–6am |
| 3x | Restaurants — all other times |
| 1.5x | Everything else |
The weekend-dining window is the standout: 6x on Friday and Saturday nights targets exactly when most people rack up restaurant and bar tabs. At 1.8¢/point that's an effective ~10.8% back in travel on your weekend nights out. Everywhere else earns a flat 1.5x, so it's a solid — not exceptional — everyday card. (Verify current category definitions; premium cards get retuned often.)
Benefits & credits
This card was recently refreshed — every credit, amount and lounge term below is current-but-verify. Confirm each on the issuer's page before you count on it; do not treat any figure as guaranteed.
- $200 annual "Splurge" credit — up to $200 in statement credits from up to two brands you choose (1stDibs, American Airlines, Best Buy, Future Personal Training, Live Nation); selection can be changed (enroll — verify).
- $300 annual hotel credit — on a single prepaid stay of 2+ nights booked through CitiTravel.com (verify current minimums).
- $200 annual Blacklane credit — toward premium chauffeur/airport-transfer rides, split $100 January–June + $100 July–December (semiannual — verify).
- Airport lounge access — a Priority Pass Select membership (unlimited visits, up to 2 guests) plus 4 Admirals Club day passes per calendar year (each valid 24 hours — verify count and terms).
- Global Entry / TSA PreCheck credit — up to $120, once every ~4 years.
- World Elite Mastercard protections — purchase and travel coverages (confirm the current benefits guide).
Stack the Splurge + hotel + Blacklane credits and you're at roughly $700 of stated value against a $595 fee — before lounge access or the bonus. The catch, as always: credits you don't naturally use are worth $0, so add up only the ones that fit your habits.
Best uses (sweet spots), with examples
1. Turkish Miles&Smiles → United, surcharge-free.
Transfer 1:1 and book United business to Europe for ~45,000 miles + modest taxes; a ~$1,100 United flight to Hawaii for 15,000 miles + $5.60:
($1,100 − $5.60) ÷ 15,000 × 100 = 7.30¢.
2. Flying Blue Promo Rewards to Europe.
A discounted-month ~$4,000 lie-flat seat for ~50,000 miles + ~$250:
($4,000 − $250) ÷ 50,000 × 100 = 7.50¢.
3. Avios short-haul via Qatar/BA/Iberia/Aer Lingus.
A ~$180 short nonstop for ~9,000 Avios + ~$6:
($180 − $6) ÷ 9,000 × 100 = 1.93¢ — small numbers, steady value.
4. The simple floor: CitiTravel.com. Redeem at a flat rate toward any paid flight or hotel, no blackout dates — the safe fallback when transfers don't beat cash.
Fine print worth knowing
- Citi's 48-month bonus rule applies across the ThankYou family — earning or closing a related card in the last 48 months can block the bonus. Check first.
- Many credits are calendar-year or semiannual and often require enrollment — a January approval can leave you scrambling to use a full year's credits in a few months. Time your application.
- Points don't expire while open; transferred points can't be reversed, so confirm award space before you move them.
- Premium cards are retuned frequently — treat every credit, multiplier and lounge term as "verify current."
Who should get it
Get the Strata Elite if you eat out on weekends, travel enough to burn the hotel and Blacklane credits, and value Priority Pass + Admirals Club access — and if you'll do the small chore of enrolling in and using each credit. Done right, the effective cost is low or negative.
If you won't touch the credits, the Citi Strata Premier delivers the same transfer partners for $95. Cross-shop the Chase Sapphire Reserve and Capital One Venture X too — they play in the same premium tier with different credit stacks.
Bottom line
The Strata Elite is a credits-and-lounges card riding on top of Citi's strong transfer program. Its weekend 6x dining is a legitimately smart earn structure, and the credits can outrun the fee — but only if they match your life. Add up the credits you'll actually use before you apply; if that number clears ~$595, it's an easy yes.
