Best Credit Cards & Lounge Access for Houston (IAH) Flyers

By Krit Β· Updated Β· How we research

Lounge access rules change often β€” confirm in the lounge's app or the card's benefits page before you fly.

Houston Bush (IAH) is United's second-biggest hub, so most IAH lounge access runs through United Clubs β€” but the one bank lounge, the Centurion Lounge IAH in Terminal D, is reachable from every terminal. The best credit card for Houston flyers is a United card if you're loyal to United, and the Amex Platinum if you fly anyone; Southwest's Hobby airport (HOU) has no lounge at all.

Quick answer

  • Best overall for IAH lounge access: Amex Platinum β€” includes the Centurion Lounge IAH and Priority Pass (KLM and Air France lounges in Terminal D)
  • Best value for Priority Pass: Capital One Venture X β€” $395 for Priority Pass IAH's two Terminal D lounges (there's no Capital One Lounge in Houston)
  • Best for frequent United flyers: United Club card ($695) with United Club access in Terminals A, C and E, and the big new Terminal B club when it opens β€” see our United MileagePlus guide
  • Not at IAH: no Chase Sapphire Lounge, Capital One Lounge or Delta Sky Club, so those cards' headline lounges don't help in Houston

Airport snapshot

United runs the large majority of IAH flights from Terminals B, C and E (with some in A), and the Skyway train plus airside walkways connect all five terminals behind security. Terminal D, the Mickey Leland International Terminal, is where most foreign airlines fly β€” and it's where the Centurion Lounge and both Priority Pass lounges sit. American and Delta use Terminal A.

Where to go by terminal

Terminal Airlines Lounges there
A American, Delta, some United United Club (A9), Admirals Club (A25)
B United Two United Club Fly spaces; full club due late 2026
C United United Clubs (C1, C33), Minute Suites
D Foreign airlines Centurion, KLM + Air France (PP), HAS Executive
E United (incl. international) United Club (E11), Polaris

The Skyway train and airside walkways connect all five terminals behind security, so the Terminal D lounges work from any gate.

Hobby (HOU): Almost entirely Southwest, with no traditional lounge. Priority Pass lists only Gameway, an XWELL spa and The Chiroport, which Amex and Capital One memberships don't cover.

Lounges at IAH

Centurion Lounge IAH (American Express)

  • Location: Terminal D, mezzanine level near gate D12. About 8,500 sq ft; state filings describe a $35 million expansion to roughly 23,000 sq ft, with construction that could start as early as August 2026 and run to July 2028.
  • Access: Amex Platinum, Business Platinum and Centurion cardholders with a same-day boarding pass on any airline; Delta SkyMiles Reserve cardholders when flying Delta. Entry within 3 hours of departure, or 5 hours of your next flight on a connection.
  • Guest policy: $50 per adult guest (up to two); free guests again after $75,000 in calendar-year spend. Since July 8, 2026, guests must be on your flight.
  • Best for: Platinum holders flying any airline from any terminal β€” it's the best lounge at IAH that a credit card opens.
  • Crowds: It's small (about 8,500 sq ft), so expect waits at peak times; the KLM Crown Lounge nearby is the Priority Pass backup.

United Club IAH

  • Location: Terminal A across from gate A9; Terminal C near gates C1 and C33; Terminal E between gates E11 and E12. Terminal B has two United Club Fly grab-and-go spaces (one near gates B12–B20); the old full Terminal B club closed in January 2025.
  • Access: United Club members, United Club card holders, Star Alliance Gold members and premium-cabin passengers on international itineraries, with a same-day United or Star Alliance boarding pass. Day passes are $59 when space allows. Club Fly serves snacks and drinks only.
  • Guest policy: The United Club card's membership covers one adult guest plus dependents; All Access membership (unlocked by $50,000 in annual card spend or Premier Gold status) allows two adults.
  • Best for: United flyers. The new Terminal B club β€” about 54,000 sq ft with 600+ seats, set to be United's largest lounge β€” is due with the rebuilt Terminal B North concourse in late 2026.

United Polaris Lounge IAH

  • Location: Terminal E, near gate E12.
  • Access: United Polaris business class or Star Alliance long-haul international first/business departing IAH. No card, membership or day pass gets you in.
  • Guest policy: Generally none beyond your own ticket.
  • Best for: Long-haul premium passengers β€” sit-down dining and shower suites.

Admirals Club IAH (American Airlines)

  • Location: Terminal A, near gates A25–A26.
  • Access: Admirals Club members (including Citi AAdvantage Executive cardholders), eligible oneworld premium and elite passengers, or a day pass ($79 or 7,900 miles), all with a same-day American or oneworld boarding pass.
  • Guest policy: Members can bring immediate family or two guests.
  • Best for: American flyers heading to DFW, Charlotte or Miami.

KLM Crown Lounge and Air France Lounge (Terminal D)

  • Location: Terminal D β€” KLM near gate D15, Air France opposite gate D18.
  • Access: Priority Pass (three-hour maximum), SkyTeam business-class and elite passengers. The Air France lounge keeps short afternoon hours tied to its Paris flight, so check the Priority Pass app before you walk over.
  • Guest policy: Set by your Priority Pass membership (Sapphire Reserve and Strata Elite include two free guests; Venture X guests pay).
  • Best for: Priority Pass holders without a Platinum card.

Other lounges

The HAS Executive Club (Terminal D near D12) is a contract lounge for certain foreign airlines' premium passengers only, and the USO lounge (Terminal D near D8) is for military members and families.

Priority Pass at IAH

  • KLM Crown Lounge β€” Terminal D. Real lounge.
  • Air France Lounge β€” Terminal D. Real lounge, limited hours.
  • Minute Suites β€” Terminal C near C14. Private rest suite (one hour).
  • Be Relax Spa β€” Terminal D near D1. Spa treatment, not a lounge.
  • Cadillac Mexican Kitchen & Tequila Bar (Terminal A) and Landry's Seafood (Terminal C) β€” restaurant credits.
  • Access: Any Priority Pass Select card gets you into the two Terminal D lounges. Restaurant credits aren't included with Sapphire Reserve, Venture X, Amex Platinum or Strata Elite memberships. Chase's membership still covers Minute Suites and spas.

Recommended strategy

  • If you fly United often from IAH: The United Club card is the only card that puts a club in almost every United terminal, and the new Terminal B club should make it much more valuable. Its membership works at United Clubs nationwide.
  • If you want one card that covers the best lounges: Amex Platinum. The Centurion is the only bank lounge at IAH, and Platinum's Priority Pass adds the KLM lounge next door when the Centurion has a line.
  • If you want strong lounges at a lower cost: Venture X for Priority Pass in Terminal D, and its Capital One Lounges pay off on connections at DFW, Denver or Washington-Dulles.
  • If you fly Southwest from Hobby: HOU has no lounge. Priority Pass lists only Gameway (a gaming lounge), XWELL spa and The Chiroport β€” and Amex and Capital One Priority Pass memberships don't cover non-lounge experiences. Southwest's own lounges arrive in late 2027 at other airports first.

No card? Day passes & other options

United Club day passes cost $59 and the Admirals Club sells passes for $79 (or 7,900 miles), each with a same-day ticket on that airline or its alliance. The KLM Crown Lounge has sold passes subject to capacity. Minute Suites in Terminal C rents rooms by the hour, which beats a lounge if you need sleep.

FAQ

Is there a Centurion Lounge at IAH? Yes β€” in Terminal D on the mezzanine near gate D12. Platinum, Business Platinum and Centurion cardholders get in on any airline, and Delta Reserve holders when flying Delta. A major expansion is planned, so check the Amex app for any temporary changes.

Is there a Chase Sapphire or Capital One lounge in Houston? No. Neither bank has a lounge at IAH or Hobby. Sapphire Reserve and Venture X holders use Priority Pass at the KLM Crown Lounge and Air France Lounge in Terminal D.

Amex Platinum vs Sapphire Reserve vs Venture X: which is best at IAH? Platinum, clearly. It's the only one of the three that opens the Centurion Lounge IAH, and it includes the same Priority Pass lounges the other two do. Sapphire Reserve's edge is two free Priority Pass guests; Venture X's is the $395 fee. If you connect through DFW, both rivals gain their own lounges there.

Does Priority Pass work at IAH? Yes, at two real lounges in Terminal D (KLM Crown and Air France), plus Minute Suites, a spa and two restaurants. Most premium-card Priority Pass memberships no longer include the restaurants.

When does the new United Club in Terminal B open? United and the airport have pointed to late 2026, alongside the rebuilt Terminal B North concourse. It's about 54,000 sq ft and expected to be United's largest club. Until then, Terminal B has only grab-and-go United Club Fly spaces.
