Best Credit Cards & Lounge Access for San Antonio (SAT) Flyers

By Krit · Updated · How we research

Lounge access rules change often — confirm in the lounge's app or the card's benefits page before you fly.

San Antonio is a mostly domestic airport led by Southwest, American, United and Delta, and SAT lounge access is about as thin as it gets for a city this size: one United Club in Terminal B, no Centurion Lounge, and nothing on Priority Pass SAT. The best credit card for San Antonio flyers is one whose lounges pay off at your connecting hub — DFW, Houston, Atlanta or Denver — until new club lounges arrive with Terminal C in 2028.

Quick answer

  • Best overall for SAT lounge access: United Club card with United Club access — the only card that opens a lounge at SAT itself (Terminal B) — see our United MileagePlus guide
  • Best value for Priority Pass: Capital One Venture X — nothing at SAT, but $395 gets you the Capital One Lounge and Priority Pass at DFW and other hubs
  • Best for frequent American flyers: Citi AAdvantage Executive with Admirals Club access — none at SAT, but a club in every DFW terminal on your connection (Citi AAdvantage guide)
  • Best for connecting through Texas hubs: Amex Platinum — the Centurion Lounges at DFW and IAH, though there's no Centurion Lounge at SAT

Airport snapshot

SAT has two terminal buildings. Terminal A handles Southwest, Delta, Alaska, JetBlue, Frontier, Allegiant and the Mexican carriers, and got a three-gate expansion with its own customs facility in March 2026. Terminal B is American and United — and it's where the airport's only lounge sits. There are no bank lounges anywhere at SAT. A new Terminal C (up to 18 gates) broke ground in December 2024 and is due in mid-2028; the airport's plan includes about 29,000 sq ft of club lounge space, including Delta and American lounges.

Where to go by terminal

Terminal Airlines Lounges there
A Southwest, Delta, Alaska, JetBlue, Frontier, Allegiant, Mexican carriers None
B American, United United Club (B3–B5); USO before security
C (due mid-2028) Not yet assigned Planned club lounges

Plan on Terminals A and B having separate security: the airport lists a post-security connector between them as still under construction, so the United Club is realistic only if you fly from Terminal B.

Lounges at SAT

United Club SAT

  • Location: Terminal B, between gates B3 and B5.
  • Access: United Club members and United Club card holders with a same-day United or Star Alliance boarding pass; eligible international premium-cabin and Star Alliance Gold passengers; or a $59 one-time pass (in the United app or at the desk) when space allows. It closes in the early evening, so check hours in the app if you're on a late flight.
  • Guest policy: United Club card membership covers one adult guest plus dependents; All Access membership (via $50,000 in annual card spend or Premier Gold status) allows two adults.
  • Best for: United flyers heading to Houston, Denver or Chicago — and anyone in Terminal B with $59 and a United or Star Alliance ticket.

USO Lounge

  • Location: Terminal B, arrivals level near baggage claim (before security).
  • Access: Active-duty, Guard and Reserve military members and their dependents only.
  • Guest policy: Military families only.
  • Best for: San Antonio's large military community — "Military City USA" — and their families.

Priority Pass at SAT

  • None. Priority Pass lists no lounges, restaurants or experiences at San Antonio as of October 2026. Some older guides mention a Priority Pass lounge at SAT; it doesn't exist.
  • Access: A Priority Pass card from Sapphire Reserve, Venture X, Amex Platinum or Strata Elite gets you nothing here — use it at your connection.

What's not at SAT

There's no Centurion Lounge, Chase Sapphire Lounge, Capital One Lounge, Admirals Club or Delta Sky Club at San Antonio. American and Delta flyers get no lounge here until the planned club lounges open.

Recommended strategy

  • If you fly United often from SAT: The United Club card is the only card that delivers a lounge in San Antonio, and its membership also covers the big United hubs in Houston and Denver where you'll connect.
  • If you fly American often from SAT: Most of your trips connect at DFW, so the Admirals Club membership from Citi AAdvantage Executive pays off there rather than here. Fly American only a few times a year? Citi Strata Elite's four Admirals Club passes cost less (guide).
  • If you want one card that covers the best lounges: Amex Platinum — the Centurions at DFW and IAH are both a connection away. If you travel with family, Sapphire Reserve's two free guests at the DFW Sapphire Lounge beat Platinum's $50-per-guest Centurion fees.
  • If you fly Southwest nonstop: skip paying for lounge access just for SAT. Southwest's first lounges (late 2027) aren't planned here.

No card? Day passes & other options

The United Club's $59 day pass is the only paid lounge entry at SAT, and you need a same-day United or Star Alliance ticket. On American or Southwest in Terminal A or B, there's no paid option — so if you have a long connection, plan your lounge time at DFW or IAH instead, where Admirals Clubs ($79) and United Clubs ($59) sell passes.
