North Texas has one of the largest Indian-American communities in the US, but there's still no nonstop from DFW to India. Air India planned a Dallas–Delhi route and then dropped it from its 2025 schedule, and Dallas isn't in its network today. Every trip connects, usually through Doha (Qatar), Dubai (Emirates), Istanbul (Turkish) or a European hub. Qatar's DFW–Doha flight with Qsuite is the best way to get there on points.

Quick answer
- Cheapest economy route: a one-stop on Qatar, Turkish or a European carrier. Economy cash fares are often competitive, so save points for business unless a fare spikes around Diwali or December.
- Best business-class value: Qatar Qsuite DFW–Doha–India for 80,000 Avios one-way off-peak (Qatar cut the US–Indian Subcontinent rate from 96,000 in 2026) plus about $280 in taxes. AAdvantage books the same Qatar seats at 70,000 miles one-way on its partner chart.
- Best program to collect: Avios. Amex, Capital One and Chase (through British Airways) feed it 1:1, and so does Citi (through Qatar).
- Best card: the Amex Platinum or Amex Gold, because Amex runs the most frequent Avios transfer bonuses (30% through September 27, 2026).

Best ways to book
Qatar Privilege Club (Avios)
Qatar is the best option from Dallas. Qsuite flies the long DFW–Doha leg, and the shorter Doha–India flight is standard business. Business to India now starts at 80,000 Avios one-way off-peak and reaches about 96,000 on peak dates, with roughly $280 in taxes (our DFW–Hyderabad booking, September 2026). Feeds: Amex 1:1 and Capital One 1:1 (to Qatar or BA), Citi 1:1 to Qatar, and Chase 1:1 to BA (then move the Avios to Qatar). Wait for a transfer bonus. With a 30% bonus, 80,000 Avios costs about 61,500 Amex points.
American AAdvantage
AAdvantage uses a fixed partner chart to the Indian Subcontinent: 70,000 miles one-way in business (Frequent Miler, June 2026). It books Qatar through Doha and British Airways through London. Stick to Qatar if you want low fees. Feeds: Citi ThankYou 1:1 (Strata Premier or Elite) and Bilt 1:1. This is the natural route for a DFW household that already earns AA miles.
Air Canada Aeroplan
Aeroplan adds no fuel surcharges and can book Turkish via Istanbul or Lufthansa via Frankfurt onward to India. Our India hub puts business at roughly 90,000–110,000 points one-way, but check the current chart. Feeds: Amex, Chase, Capital One and Bilt, all 1:1.
Air France-KLM Flying Blue
Flying Blue books Air France DFW–Paris and the connection onward to India, with business typically around 90,000–115,000 miles one-way. Promo Rewards sometimes include India. Expect a few hundred dollars in surcharges. Feeds: Amex, Chase, Capital One and Citi, all 1:1.
Emirates Skywards
Emirates is a strong airline, but it's an expensive way to use points. Its surcharges are high, and the transfer ratios are poor: Amex 1:0.8, Citi 1:0.8, Capital One 1:0.75. Chase dropped Emirates in October 2025. Use Skywards only when Qatar has no space.
Sweet spots from Dallas
- Qsuite with an Amex transfer bonus. Our own DFW–Hyderabad round trip used 160,000 Avios plus $560 in taxes. During a 30% Amex bonus, those Avios cost about 123,100 Membership Rewards points, which worked out to roughly 3.4 cents per point against a ~$4,800 cash fare. Full write-up.
- Qatar on AAdvantage for 70,000. If you've built up AA miles from flying the DFW hub or from Citi points, this books the same Qatar flight with no Avios needed. It's 10,000 fewer miles than Qatar's own peak price.
- Turkish via Istanbul on Aeroplan. This works when Gulf award space is gone over the holidays, and there are no carrier surcharges.
Which card to earn with
| Card | Points | Transfers to | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amex Platinum | Membership Rewards | Qatar/BA Avios, Aeroplan, Flying Blue, Emirates (1:0.8) | Avios transfer bonuses for Qsuite |
| Capital One Venture X | Capital One miles | Qatar/BA Avios, Aeroplan, Turkish, Etihad, Flying Blue | The widest India coverage |
| Citi Strata Elite | ThankYou | AAdvantage, Qatar Avios, Turkish, Etihad, Flying Blue | Both of the AA and Qatar routes |
| Chase Sapphire Reserve | Ultimate Rewards | BA Avios (then Qatar), Aeroplan, Flying Blue | Chase loyalists |
| Citi AAdvantage Executive | AAdvantage miles | (earns AA miles directly) | DFW flyers who already earn AA miles |
Taxes & surcharges
- Qatar via Avios: about $280 one-way in business from DFW (September 2026 booking).
- Aeroplan: no carrier surcharges, so you pay mainly government taxes.
- Flying Blue and British Airways: surcharges apply. British Airways' are among the highest anywhere, so avoid BA-operated long-haul business on Avios.
- Emirates: high carrier-imposed fees on premium awards.
FAQ
Is there a nonstop flight from Dallas to India? No. Air India's planned DFW–Delhi route was cancelled, and Dallas isn't in its 2026 network. The fastest options connect once, through Doha, Dubai, Istanbul or Europe.
How many points do I need for business class from Dallas to India? About 80,000–96,000 Avios on Qatar, 70,000 AAdvantage miles on Qatar or BA, or roughly 90,000–115,000 on Aeroplan or Flying Blue, each one-way plus taxes.
Is the whole trip in Qsuite? Only the DFW–Doha leg. The Doha–India flight is standard business.
When should I book for Diwali or December? As early as possible. Long-haul award space tends to open about 11 months out and again in the final two weeks. Holiday dates are the hardest to get.
Can I use AA miles to fly to India from Dallas? Yes. AAdvantage books Qatar via Doha for 70,000 miles one-way in business on its partner chart. American has no India route of its own.
