Last updated: July 2026. Business-card fees, credits, and the Pay-with-Points rebate change periodically — confirm the current fee, credit list, and welcome offer on the issuer's page before you apply.
The Business Platinum Card® from American Express is the consumer Platinum's bigger sibling, built for business spend. It carries the same lounge access and premium feel, but swaps the consumer credits for business-flavored ones (Dell, Indeed, Adobe) and adds two things the personal card lacks: 2x earning on large and select purchases and the 35% Pay-with-Points airline rebate, which quietly boosts your Membership Rewards toward a fixed ~1.54¢ when you book paid flights.

What the points are worth
We value Membership Rewards at 2.0¢ each because they transfer 1:1 (or better) to Air Canada Aeroplan, ANA, Air France/KLM Flying Blue, Avianca, British Airways/Iberia/Qatar (Avios), Delta, Virgin Atlantic, Singapore KrisFlyer, Marriott, and Hilton (1:2). On this card there's a second floor: the 35% Pay-with-Points rebate makes points worth a fixed ~1.54¢ toward paid airfare (details below). So your floor is ~1.54¢ and your ceiling — via transfers — is 6¢+.
A 150,000-point bonus is therefore worth:
- $1,500 cashed out (don't) ·
- ~$2,300 in paid flights via the 35% rebate ·
- $3,000+ transferred to a partner for a well-chosen award.
Where your points can go
The Business Platinum's points are Amex Membership Rewards, which transfer to these airline and hotel programs — tap any partner to see how to use those miles, what they're worth, and the best redemptions:
Airline transfer partners Air Canada Aeroplan · ANA Mileage Club · Air France/KLM Flying Blue · Avianca LifeMiles · British Airways / Qatar Avios · Delta SkyMiles · Virgin Atlantic · Singapore KrisFlyer · Cathay Pacific Asia Miles · Qantas Frequent Flyer · Emirates Skywards · JetBlue TrueBlue
Hotel transfer partners Hilton Honors · Marriott Bonvoy · Choice Privileges
Amex charges a small excise-tax fee to move points to U.S. airline programs (Delta, JetBlue) — see the fine print below. For every transfer ratio, transfer time and current bonus, see the complete transfer partners chart.
Earning rates
| Rate | Category |
|---|---|
| 5x | Flights & prepaid hotels booked through Amex Travel |
| 2x | Purchases of $5,000+ and select business categories (up to $2M/yr, then 1x) |
| 1x | Everything else |
The 2x on any single purchase of $5,000+ is the differentiator versus the personal Platinum — big equipment buys, contractor invoices, and inventory orders earn a bonus the consumer card can't match.
The 35% Pay-with-Points airline rebate (the signature perk)
When you book paid airfare through Amex Travel and pay with Membership Rewards, Amex rebates 35% of the points back on your selected qualifying airline in any cabin (the September 2025 refresh removed the old "any airline in first/business" option — verify). That effectively drops the cost by a third, pushing each point to:
- 1 point normally redeems at 1¢ toward paid travel; with 35% back, you spend ~65 points per 1¢ → ~1.54¢ per point.
- Rebate is capped at ~1,000,000 points back per calendar year (verify).
This is a fixed floor with no award-chart research — great when transfers don't beat a cheap cash fare, and it applies to paid premium cabins too.
Benefits & credits
Credits require enrollment, arrive on monthly/quarterly/semi-annual schedules, and are use-it-or-lose-it. Verify the current list and amounts — the 2025 refresh reworked several of these.
- ~$200/yr airline fee credit — select one airline; incidental fees only.
- ~$600/yr hotel credit — up to $300 semi-annually on prepaid Fine Hotels + Resorts / The Hotel Collection booked through Amex Travel.
- Up to ~$1,150/yr Dell credit — up to $150 on U.S. Dell purchases, plus an extra $1,000 after you spend $5,000+ with Dell in a calendar year.
- ~$360/yr Indeed credit — up to $90 each quarter, for hiring/job postings.
- ~$250/yr Adobe credit — after you spend $600+ on select Adobe subscriptions.
- ~$300/yr ChatGPT Business credit — U.S. ChatGPT Business subscriptions (added 2026 — verify).
- ~$200/yr Hilton credit — split into quarterly increments on Hilton stays.
- ~$120/yr wireless credit — up to $10/month on eligible U.S. wireless bills.
- ~$219/yr CLEAR Plus credit — covers the airport-security membership (tracks the CLEAR Plus price — verify).
Lounge access & status:
- Amex Centurion Lounges, Priority Pass Select, Delta Sky Clubs on Delta same-day (capped visits — verify), plus partner lounges.
- Marriott Bonvoy Gold and Hilton Honors Gold status (enrollment).
- Global Entry / TSA PreCheck application-fee credit (~every 4 years).
- No foreign transaction fees.
Best uses (sweet spots), with examples
1. Transatlantic business via transfer partners. Move 60,000 MR → Flying Blue for a ~$4,000 lie-flat seat + ~$250 taxes. CPP = (4,000 − 250) ÷ 60,000 × 100 = 6.25¢ per point — the best use of the bonus.
2. Paid premium cabins via the 35% rebate. Book a $2,300 paid business fare through Amex Travel with points: it costs ~149,500 points after the rebate instead of 230,000. CPP = 2,300 ÷ 149,500 × 100 = 1.54¢ — a fixed floor, no availability hunting, and you still earn miles on the paid ticket.
3. 2x on a big equipment order. A $20,000 purchase at 2x = 40,000 MR ≈ $800 in travel at 2.0¢ — bonus points the personal card's 1x would never earn.
4. ANA round-trip business to Tokyo. 85,000 MR → ANA + ~$250 on a ~$6,000 fare. CPP = (6,000 − 250) ÷ 85,000 × 100 = 6.76¢.
Fine print worth knowing
- Business card: you'll need a business (a sole proprietorship using your name/SSN often qualifies) and it generally won't appear on personal credit reports.
- 35% rebate requires booking through Amex Travel and is capped (~1M points/yr back — verify); as of the September 2025 refresh it applies only to your selected qualifying airline (any cabin), not "any airline in first/business."
- The 2x rate applies to purchases $5,000+ or select categories, up to $2M/yr, then 1x.
- Once-per-lifetime bonus per Amex card product; welcome-offer minimum spends can be steep.
- US-airline transfer fee: 60¢ per 1,000 points (cap ~$99). Credits are enrollment-gated and don't roll over.
Who should get it
Get the Business Platinum if you run a business with genuine travel and big-ticket spend, you'll use the Dell/Indeed/Adobe/airline credits, and the 35% rebate fits how you book flights. The 2x and rebate are the reasons to pick it over the personal Platinum.
Otherwise: the personal Amex Platinum has the consumer-friendly credits (Uber, entertainment, Walmart+); the Blue Business Plus is the no-fee business MR earner for everyday spend; and the Chase Ink Business Preferred is a cheaper business card that still unlocks transferable points.
Bottom line
The Business Platinum is a premium business membership: lounges, a large business-credit stack, 2x on big purchases, and the 35% rebate that turns paid flights into a ~1.54¢ points floor — all riding on the full Membership Rewards transfer program. If your business spend and travel are real, it earns and offsets its keep. If they're not, the personal Platinum or a no-fee MR earner is the smarter buy.
