That price only shows up in sales. Outside a sale, Delta One to Europe usually costs 300,000 SkyMiles or more one-way. The old 50,000-mile Delta One price to Europe is gone, and we have not seen it in 2025 or 2026.

How to earn the miles
Delta SkyMiles have one transferable feed and one co-brand feed:
- American Express Membership Rewards → Delta SkyMiles at 1:1. Amex is the only bank whose points move to Delta.
- Delta SkyMiles Amex cards. The Gold, Platinum and Reserve earn SkyMiles directly. They also unlock TakeOff 15: at least 15% off the miles on award tickets.
- Flying Delta. The slow way.
TakeOff 15, the cardholder discount
- Who gets it: The primary card member on a Delta SkyMiles Gold, Platinum or Reserve Amex, or the Business versions. Not the no-fee Blue card. Not authorized users.
- What it covers: At least 15% off the miles on award tickets. Not taxes and fees.
- Where it works: Only on Delta and Delta Connection flights, booked on delta.com or the Fly Delta app while logged in to a SkyMiles account linked to the card.
- What it does to this deal: 115,000 becomes about 97,750.
A realistic path to 115,000 SkyMiles
- Open an Amex Membership Rewards card, like the Amex Gold or Amex Platinum, or a Delta SkyMiles Amex card. Check the current welcome offer on the issuer's site.
- Meet the minimum spend on everyday purchases.
- Keep the points in Amex MR until a sale price appears. Transfers are one-way. If you move points early and no sale comes, you're stuck with SkyMiles.
- Transfer the exact amount, then book. Amex transfers to Delta usually post fast, but allow up to 48 hours. Sale seats can sell out in that time, so book as soon as the miles land.
Heads-up: Amex charges an excise-tax offset fee of 0.06¢ per point (60¢ per 1,000, capped at $99 per transfer) when you move points to U.S. airlines like Delta. That's about $69 on 115,000 points and about $59 on 97,750.
Partner options for the same seat
Delta's own price is not the only one. Two partners can book Delta One, and both are worth a check.
- Air France-KLM Flying Blue. Flying Blue does not add fuel surcharges on Delta flights, so fees stay low. In a 2025 test, Frequent Miler priced Detroit to Amsterdam in Delta One at 78,000 Flying Blue miles plus $33. Flying Blue only sees part of Delta's award space. Amex, Chase, Capital One, Citi, Bilt and Wells Fargo all transfer to Flying Blue at 1:1. Changes cost EUR 70.
- Virgin Atlantic Flying Club. Virgin has priced Delta One to Europe at about 47,500-57,500 points from the East Coast and 67,500-77,500 from the West Coast. The catch is fees of over $1,000 each way on most U.S.-Europe tickets. That usually wipes out the savings. Amex, Chase, Citi, Bilt and Wells Fargo transfer to Virgin at 1:1.
Finding availability
With no chart, finding space means timing the dynamic price. Here's the routine:
- Watch delta.com in miles. Search your route, choose "Shop with Miles," and use the flexible-date calendar. In the 2026 sales, smaller U.S. airports often priced the same 115,000 as hubs, so search from home.
- Follow deal alerts. Delta does not announce these sales. Blogs like The Points Guy, Frequent Miler and Thrifty Traveler post them within hours.
- Use the free-cancel safety net. Delta One award tickets have no change or cancellation fees. Cancel before departure and your miles and taxes come back. Book a sale price now, and rebook if it drops.
- Be flexible on dates. Winter (November-March) and summer sales both appeared in 2026. Midweek dates and secondary gateways price lowest.
- Plan the return. Sale prices usually apply eastbound. Flights home from Europe often price much higher, and European departure taxes add to the bill. In the late-October round-trip sale, total taxes ran $48-$386 depending on the city.
Who should do it
At 115,000 SkyMiles, this is a solid use of SkyMiles when a sale shows up. It suits Delta Amex cardholders, who get the 15% off, and Amex MR earners who can wait. It books on Delta's own site, with $5.60 in taxes and free cancellation.
The honest counterpoints: the price is dynamic, and the sale price is rare. Thrifty Traveler called the 97,000-range price the best SkyMiles business fare to Europe in more than two years. The suite with a door depends on the plane. And if you'd never pay cash for business class, part of the value is on paper.
- Good alternative: JetBlue Mint for 45k TrueBlue, another lie-flat redemption on a different currency.
What Delta One is like
The factual product (documented, not embellished): Delta One is Delta's business class on international and premium transcontinental flights. On widebodies it's a 1-2-1 lie-flat layout with direct aisle access for every seat. The A350-900 and A330-900neo have the Delta One Suite with a sliding privacy door. Some older jets, like the 767, have lie-flat seats without a door. Delta's new A350-1000 suite is due in 2027. Expect Missoni bedding and a Missoni amenity kit with Grown Alchemist skincare, multi-course meals, and Delta Sky Club access before the flight. Delta One Lounges are open at New York JFK, Los Angeles, Boston and Seattle.
One 2026 change to know: in July 2026 Delta launched Basic Business, a cheaper cash fare in Delta One. It has no seat choice, and from January 19, 2027, no Delta One Lounge or Sky Club access. Award tickets are not sold as Basic Business, so a SkyMiles booking keeps the full Delta One benefits.
