Best Credit Cards & Lounge Access for Orange County (SNA) Flyers

By Krit · Updated · How we research

Lounge access rules change often — confirm in the lounge's app or the card's benefits page before you fly.

John Wayne is Orange County's close-in airport, with Southwest the biggest airline and American, United, Alaska and Delta all busy here. SNA lounge access is limited to two airline clubs, a United Club and an Admirals Club, sharing a mezzanine in the middle of the terminal. There's no Priority Pass SNA lounge, no Centurion Lounge at SNA and no Chase or Capital One lounge, so the best credit card for Orange County flyers is the club card for the airline you actually fly.

Quick answer

  • Best overall for SNA lounge access: none of the big premium cards. Amex Platinum, Sapphire Reserve and Venture X get you into nothing at SNA, since there's no Centurion Lounge or Priority Pass lounge.
  • Best for frequent United flyers: United Club card with United Club access — see our United MileagePlus guide
  • Best for frequent American flyers: Citi AAdvantage Executive with Admirals Club access — see our Citi AAdvantage guide
  • Best for occasional visits: Citi Strata Elite (four Admirals Club passes a year) or the United Explorer (two United Club passes a year)

Airport snapshot

SNA's Thomas F. Riley Terminal is one building split into Terminals A, B and C, with 22 gates. Both lounges sit on the mezzanine in the central rotunda above the food court, next to each other. Southwest, Frontier and Allegiant fly from Terminal C; American, Delta and Air Canada from Terminal A; United and Alaska from Terminal B. Delta has no Sky Club here, and Southwest flyers have no lounge at all.

Where to go by terminal

Terminal Airlines Lounges there
A (gates 1–8) American, Delta, Air Canada, Breeze, WestJet Admirals Club (mezzanine)
B (gates 9–15) United, Alaska United Club (mezzanine, above gate 9)
C (gates 16–22) Southwest, Frontier, Allegiant None

All three terminal areas connect after security, so you can walk to either club from any gate.

Lounges at SNA

United Club SNA

  • Location: Terminal B, mezzanine level above gate 9, reached by elevator.
  • Access: United Club members and United Club card holders with a same-day United or Star Alliance boarding pass, eligible Star Alliance Gold and premium international passengers, United Explorer one-time passes, or a day pass when space allows.
  • Guest policy: United Club card membership includes one adult guest plus dependents.
  • Best for: United flyers connecting through United's hubs. It's a single room of just over 50 seats with a small bar and light snacks, no hot food and no showers.
  • Crowds: Reviewers in 2026 found it cramped at peak times, especially weekends and weekday business-travel rushes.

Admirals Club SNA

  • Location: Terminal A side of the same mezzanine, next door to the United Club.
  • Access: Admirals Club members (including Citi AAdvantage Executive cardholders) with a same-day American or oneworld boarding pass, eligible AA elites on international itineraries, Citi Strata Elite passes, and day passes ($79 or 7,900 miles).
  • Guest policy: Members can bring immediate family or up to two guests.
  • Best for: American flyers.

Priority Pass at SNA

  • None. SNA has no Priority Pass lounge, restaurant or experience in Priority Pass's current US directory. Older reviews mention some Priority Pass members getting into the United Club, but that doesn't apply to the Priority Pass Select memberships from US credit cards.
  • Access: If your only lounge card is Platinum, Sapphire Reserve, Venture X or Strata Elite's Priority Pass, there's nothing for it here. Strata Elite's Admirals passes are its only SNA benefit.

Best credit cards for SNA

Card Annual fee Lounges you get at SNA Guests Best if you…
United Club card (guide) $695 United Club 1 adult + kids Fly United often

Citi Strata Elite $595 4 Admirals passes/yr Pass per person Fly American sometimes
United Explorer See guide 2 United Club passes/yr Pass per person Fly United a few times

Recommended strategy

  • If you fly United often from SNA: The United Club card pays for itself only with frequent trips. For a few trips a year, the United Explorer's two passes cover them.
  • If you fly American often from SNA: Citi AAdvantage Executive. Admirals Club membership also works across American's hubs.
  • If you want one card that covers the best lounges: Amex Platinum is still the broadest card nationally, but it does nothing at SNA. If you split trips between SNA and LAX, its value is at LAX.
  • If you fly Southwest, Delta or Alaska from SNA: No card gets you into a lounge here. Carry a Priority Pass card for your other airports and treat SNA as a no-lounge airport.

No card? Day passes & other options

The Admirals Club sells day passes ($79, or 7,900 AAdvantage miles) to travelers on same-day American or oneworld flights. The United Club sells one-time passes when space allows to United and Star Alliance travelers. There's no independent pay-per-visit lounge at SNA.

FAQ

Is there a Centurion Lounge at SNA? No. There's no Centurion Lounge at SNA, and Amex Platinum has no lounge benefit here at all. The nearest Centurion Lounge is at LAX.

Does Priority Pass work at SNA? No. Priority Pass SNA has no lounges or restaurants listed, so Sapphire Reserve, Venture X and Platinum's Priority Pass don't help at John Wayne.

Can I walk to the United Club from Terminal C? Yes. All three terminal areas connect after security, and both clubs are on the central mezzanine.

Amex Platinum vs Sapphire Reserve vs Venture X: which is best at SNA? None of them gets you into an SNA lounge. Choose between them for your other airports, and use an airline club card or passes at SNA.
