Best Credit Cards & Lounge Access for Ontario (ONT) Flyers

By Krit · Updated · How we research

Lounge access rules change often — confirm in the lounge's app or the card's benefits page before you fly.

Ontario is the Inland Empire's alternative to LAX, with Southwest the dominant airline and a growing list of international flights. ONT lounge access is simple and better than many bigger airports: an Aspire Lounge in each terminal, both Priority Pass ONT lounges and both in Amex's lounge network. The best credit card for Ontario flyers is any card with Priority Pass. There's no Centurion Lounge at ONT and no airline club.

Quick answer

  • Best overall for ONT lounge access: Amex Platinum — both Aspire Lounges, through Priority Pass or Amex's own lounge network. There's no Centurion Lounge at ONT.
  • Best value for Priority Pass: Capital One Venture X — $395 for both Aspire Lounges; guests pay $35 each. No Capital One Lounge here.
  • Best for families: Chase Sapphire Reserve — Priority Pass with two free guests. No Sapphire Lounge here.
  • Best for frequent Southwest flyers: any Priority Pass card, for the Terminal 4 Aspire Lounge. Southwest has no lounges of its own yet.

Airport snapshot

ONT has two passenger terminals. Terminal 2 handles Alaska, Delta, United, Frontier, Volaris, China Airlines and Avianca El Salvador. Terminal 4 handles Southwest, American, JetBlue and Starlux. Swissport's Aspire brand runs one lounge in each terminal, opened in 2022, and there are no Delta, United or American clubs. With only one lounge per terminal and the same cards working in both, your gate decides where you go.

Where to go by terminal

Terminal Airlines Lounges there
2 Alaska, Delta, United, Frontier, Volaris, China Airlines Aspire Lounge (gates 209–210)
4 Southwest, American, JetBlue, Starlux Aspire Lounge (gates 410–411)

Terminals 2 and 4 are separate buildings, each with its own security checkpoint and lounge, so plan on the lounge in your departure terminal.

Recommended strategy

  • If you fly Southwest from ONT: Venture X is the cheapest way into the Terminal 4 Aspire Lounge; Sapphire Reserve is better with two companions, since Venture X charges $35 per guest.
  • If you fly Delta, United or American often from ONT: Priority Pass covers ONT; add the airline's club card only if you connect at its hubs regularly.
  • If you want one card that covers the best lounges: Amex Platinum, though at ONT it gets nothing Venture X doesn't. Its edge is the Centurion Lounge at LAX for days you fly from there instead.
  • If you also use LAX: compare our LAX lounge guide; the card logic changes completely there.

Both Aspire Lounges sell passes to any traveler and take pre-bookings online. Third-party listings put the price at about $45–$50 for up to three hours; check Aspire's booking page for the current rate.

FAQ

Does Priority Pass work at ONT? Yes. Priority Pass ONT covers the Aspire Lounge in Terminal 2 and the Aspire Lounge in Terminal 4, each with a 3-hour stay limit.

Amex Platinum vs Sapphire Reserve vs Venture X: which is best at ONT? All three get you into both Aspire Lounges. Sapphire Reserve includes two free Priority Pass guests. Venture X costs $395 but charges $35 per guest. Platinum's extra value is Centurion Lounges elsewhere. For ONT alone, Venture X (solo) or Sapphire Reserve (groups) is the better buy.
