Best Credit Cards & Lounge Access for Baltimore (BWI) Flyers

By Krit Β· Updated Β· How we research

Lounge access rules change often β€” confirm in the lounge's app or the card's benefits page before you fly.

BWI is Southwest's stronghold β€” Southwest carries the large majority of passengers here β€” yet it has almost no lounges: one Priority Pass lounge, a nap-room operator and a contract lounge for the evening London flight. There's no Centurion Lounge at BWI, no Chase Sapphire Lounge and no Capital One Lounge, so the best credit card for Baltimore flyers is the cheapest one that includes Priority Pass BWI access β€” and, for many people, a card that's strong at the airports you fly to.

Quick answer

  • Best overall for BWI lounge access: none stands out β€” every premium card gets you the same place, The Club BWI, through Priority Pass
  • Best value for Priority Pass: Capital One Venture X β€” $395 for Priority Pass BWI plus Capital One Lounges at hubs you connect through
  • Best if you also want great lounges elsewhere: Amex Platinum or Chase Sapphire Reserve β€” no Centurion or Sapphire Lounge at BWI, but both networks are strong at other airports
  • Best for frequent Southwest flyers: no card yet β€” Southwest plans its own BWI lounge, expected late 2027, tied to a new Chase Southwest card; see our Southwest cards guide

Airport snapshot

Southwest dominates Concourses A and B (a new A/B connector opened in January 2026) and also uses C. Most other U.S. airlines β€” Delta, United, Frontier, Alaska and others β€” are in D, and international flights use E. The only lounge most cardholders can use is in Concourse D, on the other side of security from Southwest's gates.

Washington Dulles (IAD) and Reagan National (DCA): BWI's DC-area neighbors are far better for lounges β€” IAD has a Capital One Lounge plus Priority Pass, and DCA has a Centurion Lounge and a Capital One Landing. See our IAD and DCA pages.

Where to go by terminal

Concourse Airlines Lounges there
A / B Southwest None
C Southwest, American, Contour Minute Suites
D Delta, United, Frontier, Alaska and others The Club BWI
E International (British Airways and others) Chesapeake Club

BWI has two secure zones: A, B and C share one, D and E share the other. From Southwest's gates, reaching The Club BWI means exiting, walking the public corridor and rescreening β€” allow at least an extra hour round trip.

Lounges at BWI

Priority Pass at BWI: The Club BWI

  • Location: Concourse D, upper level near gate D10; reachable airside from Concourse E.
  • Access: Priority Pass (including memberships from Amex Platinum, Sapphire Reserve, Venture X and Citi Strata Elite), or a paid day pass (about $50). Entry up to 3 hours before departure, subject to space.
  • Guest policy: Depends on your card's Priority Pass membership β€” Venture X guests are $35; Sapphire Reserve and Platinum memberships include guests (check your benefits page).
  • Best for: Delta, United and other Concourse D/E flyers. Food is snacks and drinks, not full meals.

Minute Suites (Concourse C)

  • Location: Concourse C, between gates C3 and C5 β€” the only sleep space in Southwest's secure zone.
  • Access: Priority Pass covers the first hour on memberships that include it (about $40 per extra hour); anyone can rent by the hour.
  • Guest policy: Set by the suite booking.
  • Best for: Southwest flyers who need a nap or a quiet call between flights.

Chesapeake Club (Concourse E)

  • Location: Concourse E, near gate E1.
  • Access: British Airways and oneworld first/business passengers and oneworld Emerald/Sapphire members, around the evening London departure. No credit card gets you in.
  • Guest policy: oneworld elites can bring one guest.
  • Best for: BA passengers only β€” don't plan a layover around it.

USO International Gateway Lounge

  • Location: Landside, lower level by baggage claim 14.
  • Access: Active-duty, Guard, reserve and retired military with ID, plus dependents.
  • Guest policy: Military families only.
  • Best for: Service members.

There are no airline clubs at BWI β€” no Admirals Club, Delta Sky Club or United Club.

Best credit cards for BWI

Card Annual fee Lounges you get at BWI Guests Best if you…
Capital One Venture X $395 The Club BWI (Priority Pass) $35 each (PP) want lounge access for the lowest fee
Chase Sapphire Reserve $795 The Club BWI, Minute Suites (PP) per PP terms also want Sapphire Lounges elsewhere
Amex Platinum $895 The Club BWI (PP) per PP terms value Centurion and Sky Club at other airports
Citi Strata Elite $595 The Club BWI (PP) per PP terms also fly American sometimes

Recommended strategy

  • If you fly Southwest often from BWI: don't buy a premium card for BWI. Use Minute Suites for long delays, and watch for Southwest's own lounge and card (expected late 2027).
  • If you want one card that covers the best lounges: pick for where you connect or land. Platinum wins if you pass through Centurion airports; Sapphire Reserve if you travel with family to Sapphire Lounge airports.
  • If you want strong lounges at a lower cost: Venture X. At $395 it covers The Club BWI and Capital One Lounges at connecting hubs like DFW and IAD.
  • If you can choose your airport: IAD and DCA have far more lounges than BWI for flights on Delta, United or American.

No card? Day passes & other options

The Club BWI sells day passes (about $50, online or at the door), and Minute Suites rents rooms by the hour. That's the extent of paid options β€” no airline club sells passes at BWI because none exists.

FAQ

Is there a Centurion Lounge at BWI? No. There's no Centurion Lounge, Chase Sapphire Lounge or Capital One Lounge at BWI. Amex Platinum holders can use The Club BWI through Priority Pass.

Does Priority Pass work at BWI? Yes, at The Club BWI in Concourse D and Minute Suites in Concourse C (first hour, on memberships that include it). The Club is the only real Priority Pass lounge.

Can Southwest passengers use The Club BWI? Yes, but it's in the D/E secure zone. From Concourses A, B or C you have to leave security and rescreen, so it only works with plenty of time.

Amex Platinum vs Sapphire Reserve vs Venture X: which is best at BWI? At BWI itself they're equal β€” all three get you into The Club BWI through Priority Pass. Venture X is the best value at $395. Choose Platinum or Sapphire Reserve only for their lounges at other airports.

Is Southwest opening a lounge at BWI? Southwest announced in September 2026 that BWI is one of four airports getting a Southwest lounge, expected to open in late 2027, with access through a new Chase Southwest credit card due in 2027.
