Best Credit Cards & Lounge Access for Washington Reagan (DCA) Flyers

By Krit · Updated · How we research

Lounge access rules change often — confirm in the lounge's app or the card's benefits page before you fly.

Reagan National is American Airlines' biggest Washington operation, with Delta, United and others filling out Terminal 2 and Southwest in Terminal 1. The best credit card for Washington flyers using DCA is the Amex Platinum or Venture X, because DCA lounge access centers on the Centurion Lounge DCA and the Capital One Landing, and there is no Priority Pass at DCA at all.

Quick answer

  • Best overall for DCA lounge access: Amex Platinum — includes the Centurion Lounge DCA and Delta Sky Club visits; Priority Pass DCA gets you nothing
  • Best value for Capital One Landing: Capital One Venture X — the Landing near the D gates for a $395 fee
  • Best for frequent American flyers: Citi AAdvantage Executive with Admirals Club access (three clubs on C, D and E)
  • Best for frequent Delta flyers: Delta SkyMiles Reserve with Delta Sky Club access, plus Centurion on Delta flights
  • Chase Sapphire Reserve at DCA: no Sapphire Lounge and no Priority Pass locations, so it gets you no lounge here

Airport snapshot

Most flights leave from Terminal 2, which holds every card-accessible lounge. American uses concourses C, D and E, and its Admirals Clubs sit on each. Delta and United are on the B gates, where the Centurion Lounge, Sky Club and United Club are. The Capital One Landing is in National Hall near the D gates. Terminal 1 (gates 1–9: Southwest, Air Canada and Frontier) has only a pre-security USO lounge and is not connected airside to Terminal 2. Within Terminal 2, concourses are connected airside, so you can reach any lounge there. Dulles is the long-haul alternative.

Where to go by terminal

Terminal Airlines Lounges there
Terminal 1 (gates 1–9) Southwest, Air Canada, Frontier None (USO only, before security)
Terminal 2, B gates Delta, United and others Centurion, Delta Sky Club, United Club
Terminal 2, National Hall All Terminal 2 flyers Capital One Landing (near the D gates)
Terminal 2, C, D and E gates American Admirals Clubs (C24, D36, E46)

All of Terminal 2 connects after security; Terminal 1 does not, so Southwest flyers can't reach these lounges without leaving and rescreening.

Lounges at DCA

Centurion Lounge DCA (Terminal 2)

  • Location: Terminal 2, Level 2, near gates B15–B22.
  • Access: Amex Platinum, Business Platinum and Centurion cards with a same-day boarding pass on any airline, within 3 hours of departure (5 hours on a layover since July 8, 2026). Delta Reserve cards qualify when flying Delta.
  • Guest policy: $50 per adult, $30 per child 2–17; Platinum holders get two free guests after $75,000 in annual spending. Since July 8, 2026, guests must be on the same flight.
  • Best for: Any Platinum holder at DCA. American flyers on C, D or E gates can walk to it airside.
  • Crowds: When it hits capacity, Amex runs a digital waitlist in the Amex app, which also shows how busy the lounge is; check before you walk over.

Capital One Landing (Terminal 2, National Hall)

  • Location: National Hall near the D gates. Opened November 2024.
  • Access: Venture X free; Venture cardholders $45; anyone else $90. Within 3 hours of departure; no arrival visits. It is a smaller, food-focused Landing rather than a full lounge.
  • Guest policy: $45 per adult and $25 per child since February 1, 2026, unless you've hit $75,000 in calendar-year spend on the card (then one free guest at Landings — per Capital One's terms this lasts the rest of that year and all of the next).
  • Best for: A meal before a short domestic flight.

Admirals Clubs (Terminal 2, Concourses C, D and E)

  • Location: Mezzanine clubs near gates C24, D36 and E46.
  • Access: Admirals Club membership, Citi AAdvantage Executive, four annual Citi Strata Elite passes, or a $79 day pass, with a same-day American or Oneworld flight.
  • Guest policy: Members and Citi AAdvantage Executive cardholders can bring two guests or immediate family.
  • Best for: American flyers, who are the biggest group at DCA.

Delta Sky Club (Terminal 2, B gates)

  • Location: Above gate B15.
  • Access: Sky Club members, Delta elites under Delta's rules, Delta Reserve (15 visits a year), Amex Platinum and Business Platinum (10 visits a year); $75,000 in annual spending unlocks unlimited visits. Basic economy does not qualify.
  • Guest policy: $50 per guest; Delta Reserve includes four guest passes a year.
  • Best for: Delta flyers.

United Club (Terminal 2, B gates)

  • Location: Across from gate B11.
  • Access: United Club membership, the United Club card, United and Star Alliance status rules, or a $59 day pass with a same-day United or Star Alliance flight.
  • Guest policy: The United Club card allows one adult guest plus children under 18 (two adults once All Access is unlocked).
  • Best for: United flyers.

Priority Pass at DCA

  • None. There are no Priority Pass lounges, restaurants or experiences at DCA.
  • Access: The Priority Pass on the Sapphire Reserve, Platinum or Venture X does nothing at Reagan. For Priority Pass in Washington, use Dulles.

Recommended strategy

  • If you fly American often from DCA: Citi AAdvantage Executive. With three clubs across C, D and E, there is always one near your gate.
  • If you want one card that covers the best lounges: Amex Platinum. The Centurion Lounge is the best lounge at DCA and works on any airline.
  • If you want strong lounges at a lower cost: Venture X for the Landing, which is fine for a quick bite but not a long wait.
  • If you also fly from Dulles: Venture X covers the full Capital One Lounge at IAD too, and its Priority Pass works there.

No card? Day passes & other options

The Capital One Landing sells $90 passes, the Admirals Clubs $79 passes and the United Club $59 passes, all subject to capacity. With the Admirals Clubs, American flyers have the most pay-per-visit options.

FAQ

Is there a Centurion Lounge at Reagan National? Yes, in Terminal 2 on Level 2 near gates B15–B22. It works on any airline with an Amex Platinum, Business Platinum or Centurion card.

Does Priority Pass work at DCA? No. There are no Priority Pass lounges, restaurants or experiences at Reagan National.

Is there a Chase Sapphire Lounge at DCA? No. The nearest Chase option is the partner Etihad Lounge at Dulles (Concourse A near gate A14), open to Sapphire Reserve cardholders.

Amex Platinum vs Sapphire Reserve vs Venture X: which is best at DCA? The Platinum, because the Centurion Lounge is the best lounge here and it adds Sky Club visits for Delta flyers.
