Lounge access rules change often — confirm in the lounge's app or the card's benefits page before you fly.
Southwest is the big airline at Sacramento, with American, Delta, United and Alaska alongside. SMF lounge access comes down to two Escape Lounges, one per terminal, and both are Priority Pass SMF lounges. That makes the best credit card for Sacramento flyers any card with Priority Pass, or Amex Platinum, which gets in directly. There's no Centurion Lounge at SMF and no airline club of any brand.

Quick answer
- Best overall for SMF lounge access: Amex Platinum — gets into both Escape Lounges directly and through Priority Pass. There's no Centurion Lounge at SMF.
- Best value for Priority Pass: Capital One Venture X — $395 for both Escape Lounges via Priority Pass; guests pay $35 each. No Capital One Lounge here.
- Best for families: Chase Sapphire Reserve — Priority Pass with two free guests. No Sapphire Lounge here.
- Best for frequent Delta flyers: Delta SkyMiles Reserve — free Escape Lounge entry in Terminal A on a Delta-marketed flight. SMF has no Sky Club.
Airport snapshot
SMF has two separate terminals. Terminal A handles American, Delta, United and Air Canada; Terminal B handles Southwest, Alaska, JetBlue, Frontier, Aeroméxico and Volaris. Each has its own Escape Lounge, run by MAG's Escape brand, and nothing else: no Delta Sky Club, United Club, Admirals Club or Alaska Lounge. Because there's one lounge per terminal and both take the same cards, the only real question is which card you hold.
Where to go by terminal
| Terminal | Airlines | Lounges there |
|---|---|---|
| A | American, Delta, United, Air Canada | Escape Lounge (near gate A10) |
| B | Southwest, Alaska, JetBlue, Frontier, Aeroméxico, Volaris | Escape Lounge (left after security) |
The terminals don't connect after security, so use the Escape Lounge in the terminal your flight leaves from.

Recommended strategy
- If you fly Southwest from SMF: Any Priority Pass card. Venture X is the cheapest; Sapphire Reserve is better if two people travel with you, since Venture X charges $35 per guest.
- If you fly Delta often from SMF: Delta SkyMiles Reserve covers the Terminal A Escape Lounge here and Sky Clubs at your connection.
- If you want one card that covers the best lounges: Amex Platinum, but at SMF it gets you nothing Venture X doesn't. Its value is Centurion Lounges at SFO, LAX, SEA and other connecting airports.
- If you fly United or American and connect: Priority Pass covers SMF; consider the airline's club card only if you spend real time at SFO, DEN, DFW or ORD.
No card? Day passes & other options
Both Escape Lounges sell passes to anyone, regardless of airline or cabin: from $45 when booked at least 24 hours ahead (free cancellation up to 24 hours before) or $60 at the door. Payment is card only.

Amex Platinum vs Sapphire Reserve vs Venture X: which is best at SMF? All three get you into both Escape Lounges. Platinum adds direct entry outside Priority Pass, which matters little here.
