Best Credit Cards & Lounge Access at Dubai International (DXB)

By Krit · Updated · How we research

Lounge access rules change often — confirm in the lounge's app or the card's benefits page before you fly.

Dubai International is Emirates' giant hub and one of the world's busiest connecting airports, with nonstops to more than a dozen US cities. DXB lounge access is a split story: no credit card gets you into an Emirates lounge, but Priority Pass at DXB is one of the largest anywhere, with Ahlan, Marhaba and Plaza Premium lounges in every Emirates concourse. There's no Centurion Lounge at DXB.

  • Best for Priority Pass at DXB with companions: Chase Sapphire Reserve, with two free guests

Airport snapshot

Terminal 3 is Emirates' home, split into Concourse A (reached by an airside train) and Concourses B and C. Terminal 1 (Concourse D) handles most other international airlines. Terminal 2, across the airfield, serves flydubai and smaller carriers. Dubai World Central (DWC), the city's second airport, has very little traffic for now.

Where to go by terminal

Terminal Airlines Lounges there
T3 Concourse A Emirates (A380s, many long-haul) Emirates First and Business, Plaza Premium, Ahlan, Marhaba
T3 Concourses B, C Emirates, Qantas Emirates lounges (some closed), Ahlan B, Ahlan C13, Marhaba B
T1 Concourse D Most other international airlines SkyTeam, Ahlan, Ahlan Business, Marhaba, Lufthansa
Terminal 2 flydubai, others Marhaba

Inside Terminal 3, Concourse A is a train ride from B and C, so use a lounge in your gate's concourse. Connections to or from Terminal 2 need an airside bus; allow time before counting on a lounge.

Recommended strategy

  • If you fly Emirates economy: Any Priority Pass card covers a lounge in your concourse. Concourse A now has Plaza Premium; in C, use Ahlan C13.
  • If you fly Emirates often: Earn Skywards status or redeem points for business class. Several bank currencies, including Amex, Capital One and Citi points, transfer to Emirates Skywards; see our Emirates Skywards guide.
  • If you fly another airline from Terminal 1: Priority Pass covers the SkyTeam Lounge and Ahlan Business Class.
  • If you want strong lounges at a lower cost: Venture X covers the same 11 DXB Priority Pass lounges as the $795–$895 cards; the Sapphire Reserve is better for families.

FAQ

Can my credit card get me into the Emirates lounge in Dubai? No. Emirates lounges are only for Emirates first and business passengers, Skywards elites, and people who pay at the door on an Emirates flight. Priority Pass and Amex lounge programs don't include them.

Is there a Centurion Lounge in Dubai? No. US Platinum cardholders use Priority Pass lounges and the Plaza Premium lounge in Terminal 3, Concourse A.

Amex Platinum vs Sapphire Reserve vs Venture X at DXB? At DXB they open the same Priority Pass lounges. Venture X is the cheapest way in, and the Sapphire Reserve's two free guests matter for families on long Emirates connections. The Platinum's Centurion advantage doesn't apply in Dubai.

Are DXB lounges open overnight? Most of the Ahlan and Marhaba lounges run around the clock, which matters because many Emirates banks leave after midnight. Check hours in the Priority Pass app, and expect queues at Marhaba B late at night.
