Best Credit Cards & Lounge Access at Cancún International (CUN)

By Krit · Updated · How we research

Lounge access rules change often — confirm in the lounge's app or the card's benefits page before you fly.

Cancún is the busiest beach airport for US travelers, with nonstops from dozens of US cities on American, Delta, United, Southwest, JetBlue and others. CUN lounge access is simple once you know the two brands: Mera Business Lounges, which Amex Platinum cardholders can use, and "The Lounge," a Priority Pass CUN lounge in each of Terminals 2, 3 and 4. There's no Centurion Lounge at CUN and no US airline club.

  • Best value for Priority Pass: Capital One Venture X — The Lounge in each terminal for $395
  • Best for families on Priority Pass: Chase Sapphire Reserve — two free Priority Pass guests
  • Best for frequent Delta flyers: Delta Gold Medallion and above (SkyTeam Elite Plus) gets you into the Mera lounges on international Delta flights

Airport snapshot

Terminal 3 handles most US-airline flights, Terminal 4 a mix of international and US carriers, and Terminal 2 mainly Mexican airlines. Terminal 1 is charters only and has no lounges. The lounges are generally smaller and busier than at a US hub, and most close in the evening except the 24-hour Priority Pass rooms in T3 and T4.

Where to go by terminal

Terminal Airlines Lounges there
Terminal 2 Mostly Mexican airlines Mera Business Lounge, The Lounge (PP)
Terminal 3 Most US airlines Mera Business Lounge (near C17), VIP Lounge by Mera Roof, The Lounge (PP, landside)
Terminal 4 International and some US airlines Mera International (near 67A), Mera Domestic (near 54), The Lounge with Air Transat (PP)

The terminals aren't connected airside; a landside shuttle links them. Check your boarding pass for the terminal before choosing a lounge.

Lounges at CUN

Mera Business Lounges (Terminals 2, 3 and 4)

  • Location: T2 behind the escalators toward the A gates; T3 upper floor near gate C17, plus the separate VIP Lounge by Mera Roof on international departures; T4 International near gate 67A (showers, sleep pods) and T4 Domestic near gate 54.
  • Access: Amex Platinum and Business Platinum, listed by Amex without Priority Pass enrollment. SkyTeam business and first passengers and SkyTeam Elite Plus members on international flights also get in, which covers Delta. Paid entry is sold online and at the door (from about $29 prebooked, per a 2026 directory).
  • Guest policy: Not published for Amex; ask at the desk or prebook a guest pass. Stays are capped at three hours (two on domestic itineraries).
  • Best for: Platinum holders in Terminal 3 who don't want to stay landside.

The Lounge by Global Lounge Network (Priority Pass)

  • Location: One per terminal. T2: airside, second floor past duty free (partly under refurbishment in 2026). T3: landside, before security, open 24 hours. T4: "The Lounge in Partnership with Air Transat," airside down the stairs at gate 54, open 24 hours with free showers.
  • Access: Priority Pass (via Amex Platinum, Sapphire Reserve, Venture X or Citi Strata Elite after enrollment). In T3 and T4, Priority Pass works for international departures only, which covers any flight home to the US. British Airways premium passengers use the T3 lounge.
  • Guest policy: Per your Priority Pass membership; four-hour stay cap in T3 and T4.
  • Best for: Early or late flights, thanks to the 24-hour T3 and T4 rooms.

No US airline clubs

American, Delta and United have no lounges at CUN, and neither do the Star Alliance or oneworld. An Admirals Club or United Club membership doesn't help here.

Priority Pass at CUN

  • Terminal 2: The Lounge (airside).
  • Terminal 3: The Lounge (landside; once you leave it to clear security you can't come back).
  • Terminal 4: The Lounge in Partnership with Air Transat (airside, gate 54).
  • Access: All three are real lounges, not restaurant credits. Priority Pass acceptance at the Mera lounges is unconfirmed, so carry a backup plan if you only have Sapphire Reserve or Venture X.

Recommended strategy

  • If you fly Delta often to CUN: Gold Medallion status gets you into the Mera lounges on international Delta flights; the Delta cards help you earn it.
  • If you fly American, United or Southwest: No airline lounge exists, so bring a Priority Pass card. In Terminal 3 that means the landside The Lounge, or the airside Mera lounges with a Platinum.
  • If you want one card that covers the best lounges: Amex Platinum, the only card that opens both the Mera and Priority Pass lounges.
  • If you want strong lounges at a lower cost: Venture X; Priority Pass covers a lounge in every terminal for $395.
  • If you travel with family: Sapphire Reserve's two free Priority Pass guests are worth more here than any lounge upgrade.

No card? Day passes & other options

Both brands sell entry online for about $29–$35 prebooked, per a 2026 directory, and more at the door. Booking ahead is cheaper and helps when lounges limit walk-ins at busy times.
