Lounge access rules change often — confirm in the lounge's app or the card's benefits page before you fly.
Mexico City is Aeromexico's hub and Delta's main partner gateway in Latin America, and it's one of the best airports in the world for Amex Platinum cardholders. The Centurion Lounge MEX network spans four locations listed by Amex across both terminals, more than at any US airport, and Priority Pass MEX adds several lounges in Terminal 1. There's no Chase Sapphire Lounge or Capital One Lounge here.

Quick answer
- Best overall for MEX lounge access: Amex Platinum — includes the Centurion Lounges in both terminals and Priority Pass
- Best value for Priority Pass: Capital One Venture X — Terminal 1's Priority Pass lounges for $395 (Terminal 2 is thin)
- Best for frequent Delta and Aeromexico flyers: Delta Medallion status or a Delta One / Aeromexico business ticket for Aeromexico's lounges, plus Delta SkyMiles Reserve for the Centurion on Delta flights
- Best for frequent United flyers: United Club membership or the United Club card for the Terminal 1 United Club
Airport snapshot
Terminal 2 is Aeromexico, Delta and their SkyTeam partners. Terminal 1, the larger and older building, handles most other airlines, including American, United, Volaris and Viva. Both terminals have Centurion Lounges; Priority Pass is much stronger in Terminal 1.
Where to go by terminal
| Terminal | Airlines | Lounges there |
|---|---|---|
| Terminal 1 | American, United, Volaris, Viva, most foreign carriers | Centurion (domestic and international), United Club, Grand Lounge Elite, The Lounge Mexico, other PP lounges |
| Terminal 2 | Aeromexico, Delta, SkyTeam partners | Centurion, Aeromexico lounges, VIPort (PP) |
The terminals aren't connected airside. The Aerotrén between them is landside and requires a boarding pass, so use the lounges in the terminal you depart from.
Felipe Ángeles (NLU): Mexico City's newer second airport handles a smaller share of domestic and some international flights. We couldn't confirm a lounge there open to US cards, so plan on MEX if lounge access matters.
Lounges at MEX
Centurion Lounge MEX (Terminals 1 and 2)
- Location: Amex's US lounge finder lists four MEX entries: a Terminal 1 lounge, separate Terminal 1 domestic and international lounges (the domestic one opened in August 2025), and a Terminal 2 lounge. All are airside.
- Access: Amex Platinum, Business Platinum and Centurion cardholders with a same-day boarding pass on any airline, within 3 hours of departure (5 hours on a layover). Delta Reserve cardholders get in on a same-day Delta flight.
- Guest policy: For US cards, $50 per adult and $30 per child, free with $75,000 in annual Platinum spend; since July 8, 2026, guests must be on the cardholder's flight. Ask at the desk if you hold a Mexican-issued card, which follows local rules.
- Best for: Any MEX departure with a Platinum card; pick the lounge for your terminal and domestic or international side.
Aeromexico lounges (Terminal 2)
- Location: Salón Premier International (mezzanine near gate 75) and Salón Premier Domestic, both reported closed for renovation as of mid-2026; the Terraza Premier on the domestic side remains open.
- Access: Aeromexico Clase Premier passengers, SkyTeam business and first, and SkyTeam Elite Plus members, which includes Delta One passengers and Delta Gold Medallion and above. Delta Sky Club memberships and Delta card lounge benefits don't apply.
- Guest policy: Per SkyTeam rules.
- Best for: Delta and Aeromexico elites; check which room is open before you go.
United Club MEX (Terminal 1)
- Location: Terminal 1 international, Concourse H mezzanine near gate 19.
- Access: United Club members and United Club card holders, Star Alliance Gold members and Star business and first passengers on a same-day United or Star flight. Day passes have been sold for $59.
- Guest policy: Set by United.
- Best for: United flyers heading back to United's US hubs.
Priority Pass at MEX
- Terminal 1: The Grand Lounge Elite (Concourse H near gate 19, 24 hours), The Lounge Mexico by Global Lounge Network (next to gate 31, via entrance J, 24 hours), Lounge 19, VIPort Lounge and Celeste Lounge; The Gate Priority Club charges an extra fee.
- Terminal 2: VIPort Lounge. The Hidden Gate and Modelo Cocina Urbana are restaurant-format spots with extra fees.
- Access: Amex Platinum, Sapphire Reserve, Venture X and Citi Strata Elite include Priority Pass after enrollment. Their memberships are lounges-only, so don't count on the restaurant-style locations. Amex lists The Lounge Mexico without an enrollment tag.

Recommended strategy
- If you fly Delta or Aeromexico often from MEX: Delta Reserve for the Terminal 2 Centurion on Delta days, plus Medallion status for Aeromexico's lounges once they reopen.
- If you fly United or American from Terminal 1: United Club membership for United; American flyers have no Admirals Club listed here, so use Centurion or Priority Pass.
- If you want one card that covers the best lounges: Amex Platinum, easily; Centurion in both terminals is the standout.
- If you want strong lounges at a lower cost: Venture X or Sapphire Reserve work in Terminal 1, but Terminal 2 has just one Priority Pass lounge.
- If you fly Aeromexico without status: The Platinum is the only card that gets you a proper lounge in Terminal 2.
No card? Day passes & other options
Most Terminal 1 Priority Pass lounges also sell paid entry, and the United Club has sold $59 day passes. Bank lounges such as Banamex's Salón Beyond and HSBC Premier are only for those banks' Mexican cardholders.
FAQ
How many Centurion Lounges are at Mexico City airport? Amex's US lounge finder lists four MEX Centurion entries: three in Terminal 1 (including separate domestic and international lounges) and one in Terminal 2. Use the Amex app to find the one nearest your gate.
Can I use the Terminal 1 Centurion if I fly from Terminal 2? Not practically. The terminals aren't connected airside, so use the Centurion in your departure terminal.
Amex Platinum vs Sapphire Reserve vs Venture X at MEX? The Platinum by a wide margin: it has Centurion Lounges in both terminals plus Priority Pass. Sapphire Reserve and Venture X only get Priority Pass, which is decent in Terminal 1 but weak in Terminal 2, where Aeromexico and Delta fly. Pick Sapphire Reserve over Venture X if you travel with companions.
Can I use my Delta Sky Club membership at the Aeromexico lounge? No. Aeromexico's Salón Premier lounges admit SkyTeam premium passengers and Elite Plus members, not Sky Club members or Delta card holders. Delta Reserve cardholders can use the Centurion on Delta flights instead.
