The Capital One Savor Rewards is the best no-annual-fee food-and-fun card in the country — 3% back on dining, groceries, entertainment and streaming. But its best feature is invisible on the application page: hold any Venture-family miles card alongside it, and every cent of Savor cash back can be converted into fully transferable Capital One miles. That quietly turns "3% cash back at restaurants" into 3x transferable miles — the same currency that books lie-flat seats through Flying Blue and Aeroplan.

What the rewards are worth
Two very different cards live inside the Savor:
- Held alone, it's a cash-back card. 3% is 3%, redeemable for statement credits in any amount. That's the whole story — solid, but fixed.
- Held alongside a Capital One miles card — Venture X, Venture, or even the no-fee VentureOne — you can move Savor rewards into the miles account with a click, where every dollar of cash back becomes 100 miles. We value Capital One miles at 1.85¢ each, so 3% on dining converts to an effective ~5.5% back in travel value.
Unlike the Chase and Citi versions of this trick, the unlock here doesn't require a premium annual fee — the $0 VentureOne qualifies. But without some miles card, the rewards are cash at a fixed rate, and that is all.
Where your points can go
Once converted to miles on a paired Venture-family card, your rewards transfer to these programs — tap any partner to see how to use those miles, what they're worth, and the best redemptions:
Airline transfer partners Air Canada Aeroplan · Air France/KLM Flying Blue · Avianca LifeMiles · British Airways/Qatar Avios · Cathay Asia Miles · Emirates Skywards · Etihad Guest · EVA Air · Qantas Frequent Flyer · Singapore KrisFlyer · Turkish Miles&Smiles · Virgin Atlantic
Hotel transfer partners Wyndham Rewards · Accor Live Limitless · Choice Privileges

Earning rates
| Rate | Category |
|---|---|
| 5% | Hotels, vacation rentals & rental cars booked through Capital One Travel |
| 3% | Dining (restaurants, takeout, delivery) |
| 3% | Grocery stores (excludes superstores like Walmart® and Target®) |
| 3% | Entertainment (tickets, movies, attractions and more) |
| 3% | Popular streaming services |
| 1% | Everything else |
No caps, no activation, no rotating anything. The grocery exclusion matters: Walmart and Target purchases earn 1%, so shop accordingly.
Benefits & credits
Perks change — verify each is current before you count on it.
- 0% intro APR for 12 months on purchases and balance transfers, then a variable APR.
- No foreign transaction fees — genuinely rare on a no-fee cash-back card; use it for dining abroad.
- Rewards never expire for the life of the account, and you can redeem any amount.
- Standard Mastercard purchase and travel protections (verify current terms).
The Savor is light on credits by design — the earning structure is the product.
Best uses (sweet spots), with examples
Every example uses the same formula: (cash price − taxes) ÷ miles × 100 = cents per mile (CPP) — and assumes you've converted cash back to miles via a paired Venture-family card.
1. A year of food spend → a lie-flat seat. $1,500/month across dining and groceries at 3% = $540/year = 54,000 miles converted. Transfer 50,000 to Flying Blue for a ~$4,000 business seat to Europe + ~$250 taxes: (4,000 − 250) ÷ 50,000 × 100 = 7.5¢ per mile — from grocery runs.
2. Date-night category stacking. Dinner, concert tickets and the streaming subscriptions all sit in 3% categories. At the converted-miles value, that's ~5.5% back in travel on your entire fun budget.
3. Avios short-haul from a month of groceries. $700 of groceries = 2,100 miles converted. A few months of that covers a 9,000-Avios nonstop that sells for ~$180 + $12 taxes: (180 − 12) ÷ 9,000 × 100 = 1.87¢ per mile.
4. Unpaired fallback. No miles card? Take the cash — $540/year on the spend above, fee-free, beats most single-card setups. Just know the conversion path pays nearly double, and the cheapest unlock (VentureOne) costs $0.
Fine print worth knowing
- The conversion needs a miles card. Cash back moves to a Venture X, Venture or VentureOne account at 1¢ = 1 mile. Close your only miles card and future Savor rewards are cash-only again.
- Grocery 3% excludes superstores (Walmart, Target) and warehouse clubs typically code differently — check how your store codes.
- Capital One has no published 5/24-style rule, but heavy recent applications can still hurt approval odds.
- Convert, then transfer only after you've found award space — partner transfers are one-way.
Who should get it
Get the Savor if dining, groceries and entertainment are big lines in your budget and you want top-rate earning with no fee. It's the ideal second card in a Capital One setup: categories here, everything else at 2x on a Venture-family card, one shared miles pool at the end.
The classic pairing is Savor + Venture X — 3x on food and fun, 2x on everything else, lounges and credits on top. On a budget, Savor + VentureOne gets you the same conversion trick for $0 in total annual fees. Model your own mix in Points Path and watch it all in your Rewards Wallet.
Bottom line
The Savor is the stealth points card of the Capital One family: a first-rate no-fee cash-back card that, paired with any Venture-family card, earns 3x transferable miles on dining, groceries, entertainment and streaming. Alone it's merely very good; paired — even with the free VentureOne — it's one of the highest-value $0 cards in the game.
