The Capital One Venture Rewards Card is the "just put everything on it" travel card. There are no bonus categories to memorize, no quarterly activations, no portal gymnastics — every purchase earns 2x miles, and those miles transfer to real airline and hotel partners. For a $95 annual fee it delivers the same flexible currency as its pricier sibling, the Venture X, minus the lounges. If you want one uncomplicated card that quietly builds transferable miles, this is it.

What the points are worth
We value Capital One miles at 1.85¢ each. They transfer 1:1 to Air France/KLM Flying Blue, Avianca LifeMiles, British Airways/Qatar Avios, Aeroplan, Turkish, Virgin Atlantic, Singapore, EVA and more, plus hotels Wyndham and Accor at 2:1. As with every Capital One card, you also have a 1¢ floor — any mile can erase a travel purchase or book through Capital One Travel at a penny each — so you never redeem below cash.
A 75,000-mile bonus is therefore worth:
- $750 as a statement credit against travel (the floor) ·
- $750 booked through Capital One Travel ·
- ~$1,390 transferred to a partner for a well-chosen award.
Where your points can go
The Venture Rewards Card's miles transfer to these airline and hotel programs — tap any partner to see how to use those miles, what they're worth, and the best redemptions:
Airline transfer partners Air Canada Aeroplan · Air France/KLM Flying Blue · Avianca LifeMiles · British Airways/Qatar Avios · Cathay Asia Miles · Emirates Skywards · Etihad Guest · EVA Air · Qantas Frequent Flyer · Singapore KrisFlyer · Turkish Miles&Smiles · Virgin Atlantic
Hotel transfer partners Wyndham Rewards · Accor Live Limitless · Choice Privileges

Earning rates
| Rate | Category |
|---|---|
| 5x | Hotels & rental cars booked through Capital One Travel |
| 2x | Everything else — every purchase, everywhere |
| 1x | (there is no 1x tier — the card earns 2x on all other spend) |
The whole pitch is that flat 2x. At 1.85¢/mile, that's an effective 3.7% back in travel on every dollar you spend, with nothing to track. Few cards give you a transferable currency at that rate for a $95 fee.
Benefits & credits
Credits and perks below are current-but-verify — Capital One changes amounts and terms often, so confirm each figure on the issuer's page before you count on it.
- Global Entry / TSA PreCheck credit — up to $120 every ~4 years, easily worth a chunk of the annual fee on its own.
- No foreign transaction fees — a natural everyday card for travel abroad.
- Transfer access to 15+ airline & hotel partners — the same program the Venture X uses.
- Capital One Travel tools — price-drop protection and price prediction when you book through the portal (verify current terms).
- Standard Visa Signature protections — travel accident, rental coverage and purchase perks (verify current terms; coverage is lighter than the Venture X).
The Venture Rewards is deliberately lean on credits — its value is the earning rate and the transfer program, not a stack of perks.
Best uses (sweet spots), with examples
Every redemption below uses the same formula: (cash price − taxes) ÷ miles × 100 = cents per mile (CPP).
1. Transatlantic business class via Flying Blue.
Transfer 50,000 miles to Air France/KLM for a lie-flat seat selling at ~$4,000, paying ~$250 taxes.
(4,000 − 250) ÷ 50,000 × 100 = 7.5¢ per mile. This single redemption returns years of the annual fee.
2. Aeroplan, surcharge-free.
Transfer 60,000 miles to Air Canada Aeroplan for a Star Alliance business seat worth ~$4,200, paying ~$200 taxes.
(4,200 − 200) ÷ 60,000 × 100 = 6.67¢ per mile.
3. Avios short-haul.
Move miles to British Airways/Qatar Avios for a cheap nonstop that runs ~$180 cash at 9,000 Avios + $12 taxes.
(180 − 12) ÷ 9,000 × 100 = 1.87¢ per mile — better than the floor even on plain economy.
4. Wyndham flat-rate hotels & villas.
Transfer at 2:1 (20,000 miles → 10,000 Wyndham points) for a 2-bedroom villa listing at ~$300/night.
300 ÷ 10,000 × 100 = 3.0¢ per Wyndham point = 1.5¢ per Capital One mile after the 2:1 ratio.
5. The floor: erase a travel charge.
Book a $500 flight, then redeem 50,000 miles against it: 500 ÷ 50,000 × 100 = 1.0¢. No research, no blackout dates — your guaranteed baseline any time transfers don't beat it.
Fine print worth knowing
- Capital One has its own application rules (it watches your total new accounts and inquiries); there's no formal "5/24," but a lot of recent applications can still lead to a decline.
- Transfer ratios are 1:1 for most airlines but 2:1 for Wyndham and Accor — confirm the live ratio, and only transfer after you've found the award space you want.
- The 1¢ "erase a travel purchase" feature is generous but is the floor — you'll almost always do better transferring for a premium-cabin or sweet-spot award.
- Miles don't expire while the account is open; transferred miles then follow the partner's rules.
Who should get it
Get the Venture Rewards if you want a single low-fee card that earns a real transferable currency on everything, and you'd rather not manage categories, portals or a premium fee. It's the ideal "set it and forget it" mile-builder and a natural first Capital One card.
Step up to the Venture X if you'll use lounge access, the $300 travel credit and anniversary miles — those extras more than justify the $300 higher fee for frequent flyers. Compare with the Chase Sapphire Preferred if you prefer Chase's transfer partners (Hyatt, United) and slightly stronger travel protections at the same $95 fee.
Bottom line
The Venture Rewards is the simplest strong transferable-miles card you can carry: flat 2x on everything, a $95 fee mostly offset by the Global Entry credit and a couple of good redemptions, and access to the full Capital One transfer program. It won't win a benefits arms race — but for effortless, high-rate earning that funds premium-cabin awards, it's hard to beat.
