Best Credit Cards & Lounge Access for Hartford (BDL) Flyers

By Krit · Updated · How we research

Lounge access rules change often — confirm in the lounge's app or the card's benefits page before you fly.

Bradley serves Hartford, Springfield and much of central New England, and it has exactly one lounge: the Escape Lounge, which reopened in February 2026 after a renovation that made it bigger. There's no Centurion Lounge BDL, no Chase Sapphire Lounge and no airline club. So the best credit card for Hartford flyers is one that gets you into the Escape Lounge: Amex Platinum (walk in, two free guests) or any card with Priority Pass BDL access (pre-booking required).

Quick answer

  • Best overall for BDL lounge access: Amex Platinum: free entry to the Escape Lounge with up to two free guests, and no pre-booking. There's no Centurion Lounge at BDL.
  • Best value for Priority Pass: Capital One Venture X: Priority Pass gets you into the same Escape Lounge, but you have to pre-book through Priority Pass's link, and guests pay $35 each.
  • Best for families on Priority Pass: Chase Sapphire Reserve: Priority Pass with two free guests. There's no Sapphire Lounge here.
  • Best for frequent Delta flyers: Delta SkyMiles Reserve: free Escape Lounge entry on days you fly a Delta-marketed flight. BDL has no Sky Club.

Airport snapshot

Bradley has one terminal, Terminal A, and no airline is dominant. Delta, American, United, Southwest, JetBlue and Breeze all fly here. The only lounge is the CAVU-run Escape Lounge by Gate 1, at the start of the east concourse (gates 1–12). Since there are no airline clubs, an elite status or co-brand card that unlocks clubs elsewhere won't help you at BDL. What matters is Amex Platinum, Priority Pass or the Delta Reserve.

Where to go by terminal

  • East concourse (gates 1–12): The Escape Lounge is by Gate 1. A March 2026 review says this side mainly serves Delta, JetBlue and Southwest.
  • The other concourse: United, American and Breeze use it, according to the same review. It has no lounge, but the reviewer called it an easy walk to the Escape Lounge. Check the walk on the airport map before you assume you can go between the two after security.
  • Arrivals: Escape lists the lounge for departing passengers. Don't count on using it after you land.

Lounges at BDL

Escape Lounge BDL (Priority Pass at BDL)

  • Location: Terminal A, by Gate 1, at the entrance to the east concourse (gates 1–12). Opens daily at 4:30am. Check closing time in the app.
  • Access: Amex Platinum and Business Platinum (show the card at the desk), Delta SkyMiles Reserve on a day you're flying a Delta-marketed flight, or Priority Pass with a pre-booking made through Priority Pass's dedicated link, and you bring your card on the day. Anyone can pay: from $45 if you pre-book at least 24 hours ahead, or $60 at the door.
  • Guest policy: Amex Platinum cardholders can bring up to two free guests. Priority Pass guests follow your card's Priority Pass rules. Children under 3 get in free.
  • Crowds: A March 2026 review found it close to full by 6:30am, with a waitlist. When it's busy, staff only admit people within 3 hours of departure. A reader reported a wait of about 15 minutes to get in one afternoon.
  • Best for: Anyone flying out of Bradley with Platinum or Priority Pass. The renovation added seating and a bigger kitchen and bar. Expect a hot breakfast buffet, an espresso machine and beer, wine and cocktails. Escape includes standard drinks and charges for premium ones.

Priority Pass at BDL

  • Escape Lounges, Terminal A: a real lounge, not a restaurant credit. It's the only Priority Pass location at BDL.
  • Access: Priority Pass from Amex Platinum, Sapphire Reserve, Venture X or Citi Strata Elite, pre-booked through the operator's Priority Pass link. Walking up with only a Priority Pass card isn't the published route, and at peak times the lounge often has a waitlist.

Recommended strategy

  • If you want one card that covers the BDL lounge: Amex Platinum. You can walk in without pre-booking and bring two guests free, which a Priority Pass card can't match here. It also gets you into the Centurion Lounges at JFK and LaGuardia when you fly from New York instead.
  • If you want strong lounges at a lower cost: Venture X gets you into the same lounge through Priority Pass for $395. Book through Priority Pass at least a day ahead.
  • If you fly Delta often from BDL: The Delta Reserve covers the Escape Lounge on Delta days, and it covers Sky Clubs at your connection (usually Atlanta or Detroit), so it does double duty.
  • If you sometimes drive to Boston or New York: Boston has a Chase Sapphire Lounge (no Centurion until about 2029), and JFK and LGA have both Centurion and Sapphire Lounges (JFK's Sapphire Lounge is currently on limited operations). That makes Sapphire Reserve or Platinum worth more than BDL alone suggests.

No card? Day passes & other options

Anyone can buy entry to the Escape Lounge: from $45 a person if you book at least 24 hours ahead (free cancellation up to 24 hours before), or $60 at the door if there's space. Children under 3 are free. That price includes food and standard drinks, so if you'd buy a meal and a drink at the airport anyway, it's close to break-even.

FAQ

Is there a Centurion Lounge at BDL? No. There's no Centurion Lounge at BDL and none has been announced. Amex Platinum cardholders get into the Escape Lounge instead, with up to two free guests.

Does Priority Pass work at BDL? Yes. Priority Pass BDL access is to the Escape Lounge by Gate 1, but you need to pre-book through Priority Pass's link and bring your card. Your guest allowance depends on which card gave you Priority Pass.

Amex Platinum vs Sapphire Reserve vs Venture X: which is best at BDL? All three get you into the same lounge. Platinum is the easiest: walk in, two free guests. For a solo flyer who plans ahead, Venture X is the value pick. For families or last-minute trips, Platinum wins.
