Atlanta is Delta's home hub and has the most nonstops to Europe of any city in the South. Delta flies to more than a dozen European cities from ATL, and its SkyTeam partners Air France, KLM and Virgin Atlantic add their own flights. Lufthansa and Turkish are the Star Alliance options, and British Airways is the only oneworld one. SkyMiles have no award chart, so Atlanta flyers need two strategies: watch Delta's dynamic prices for the occasional deal, and use Flying Blue or Virgin Atlantic points to book the same SkyTeam seats at other times.

Quick answer
- Cheapest economy route: Delta to Amsterdam, Paris or London on a low SkyMiles date, or a Flying Blue economy award on KLM or Air France. Check the cash fare first, because winter fares from ATL are often cheap.
- Best business-class value: Delta One when SkyMiles prices drop. Sales have brought it down to about 50,000–60,000 miles one-way. Otherwise, Air France or KLM on a Flying Blue Promo Reward (business from 45,000 on the September 2026 promo, 60,000 standard).
- Best program to collect: Flying Blue. Amex, Chase, Capital One and Citi all transfer to it 1:1, and it books Delta, Air France and KLM.
- Best card: the Amex Platinum, because Amex is the only bank that transfers to Delta SkyMiles. Pair it with a Delta SkyMiles Reserve if you want Sky Club access.

Best ways to book
Delta SkyMiles
Delta has no award chart, so every price is dynamic. Delta One to Europe usually costs a lot of miles, but it can drop to about 50,000–60,000 one-way during a SkyMiles sale or a slow week. When it does, taxes from the US are just $5.60 (how we booked it). Changes and cancellations are free, so you can rebook if the price falls further. Feeds: Amex only, 1:1. Amex charges 60 cents per 1,000 points (capped at $99) on transfers to US airlines.
Air France-KLM Flying Blue
Flying Blue's standard business award to Europe is 60,000 miles, and monthly Promo Rewards take 25% off selected routes (from 45,000 in September 2026). It books Air France and KLM from ATL, and Delta's flights too, but compare the price on each. "Light" fares (since September 8, 2026) cost the same miles but don't allow changes or seat selection. Feeds: Amex, Chase, Capital One and Citi, all 1:1.
Virgin Atlantic Flying Club
Virgin flies ATL–London and ATL–Manchester and can also book Delta. Virgin's own flights carry carrier surcharges, so Virgin points usually work best on Delta-operated seats. Price both. Feeds: Amex, Chase, Capital One and Citi, all 1:1, and transfer bonuses of 30% are common (Chase and Amex both ran one in July 2026).
Air Canada Aeroplan
Aeroplan covers Lufthansa ATL–Frankfurt and Turkish ATL–Istanbul with no fuel surcharges. ATL–London is about 4,200 miles, so routes from Atlanta fall in the 75,000-point business band (4,001–6,000 miles) under the June 2026 chart. Feeds: Amex, Chase, Capital One and Bilt.
Sweet spots from Atlanta
- Delta One during a SkyMiles sale. When Delta's dynamic price falls to about 50,000 one-way, a lie-flat seat that often sells for close to $4,000 costs just $5.60 in tax. Move Amex points over only once you see the price.
- Flying Blue Promo Rewards. Air France to Paris or KLM to Amsterdam from 45,000 miles in business when Atlanta is on the monthly list.
- Virgin points on Delta flights. When Delta charges too many SkyMiles for a seat, see whether Virgin Atlantic can book the same flight for less. Time the transfer to a 30% bonus.
- Lufthansa to Frankfurt on Aeroplan. A fixed 75,000 points with no surcharges. This is your Star Alliance option from a Delta hub.

Taxes & surcharges
- Delta SkyMiles: no carrier surcharges from the US, about $5.60 outbound.
- Flying Blue: about $200–300 one-way in business on Air France or KLM.
- Virgin Atlantic's own flights: carrier surcharges apply. Book Delta-operated seats with Virgin points to avoid them.
- British Airways via Avios: steep surcharges. Avoid booking BA's ATL–London award with Avios.
- Aeroplan: no carrier surcharges.
FAQ
Which European cities fly nonstop from Atlanta? In winter, at least London, Manchester, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Munich, Rome, Madrid, Milan, Barcelona, Brussels, Dublin, Copenhagen and Istanbul, with more added in summer.
Are SkyMiles worth using for Europe? Sometimes. Delta's dynamic prices are usually high in business, but sales can bring Delta One down to about 50,000–60,000 one-way. Watch delta.com and transfer Amex points only once you see a low price.
What's the cheapest way to fly business from ATL without Amex points? Flying Blue (from Chase, Capital One or Citi), especially on a Promo Reward, or Virgin Atlantic points on a Delta flight.
Do I need Delta status to get good awards? No. Award prices are the same for everyone. Status and the Reserve card help with upgrades and lounge access, not award prices.
