Lounge access rules change often — confirm in the lounge's app or the card's benefits page before you fly.
Kansas City's single terminal, opened in 2023, has just two lounges — the Escape Lounge in Concourse A and a Delta Sky Club in Concourse B — but both are reachable from every gate. That makes the best credit card for Kansas City flyers easy to pick: Amex Platinum gets you into both. There's no Centurion Lounge at MCI, no Chase Sapphire or Capital One Lounge, and American and United have no club here.

Quick answer
- Best overall for MCI lounge access: Amex Platinum — includes the Escape Lounge on any airline and the Sky Club on Delta flights (10 visits a year)
- Best value for Priority Pass: Capital One Venture X — $395 for Priority Pass, which covers the Escape Lounge (the only Priority Pass MCI lounge); pre-book it
- Best for frequent Delta flyers: Delta SkyMiles Reserve with Sky Club access (15 visits a year) and the Escape Lounge on Delta flights
- Best for Southwest flyers: any Priority Pass card — Escape is a short walk from the Southwest gates through the airside connector
Airport snapshot
MCI replaced its three old horseshoe terminals with one terminal and two concourses in February 2023. Southwest, MCI's largest carrier, flies from Concourse B with Delta and United; American, Alaska and most other airlines use Concourse A. The Escape Lounge sits in Concourse A by gate A5 and the Sky Club is on the mezzanine above Concourse B. There's no secondary commercial airport in the Kansas City area.
Where to go by terminal
- Concourse A (American, Alaska and others): Escape Lounge by gate A5 — open to Amex Platinum, Delta Reserve on Delta flights, Priority Pass and paying guests.
- Concourse B (Southwest, Delta, United): Delta Sky Club on the mezzanine — Delta flyers only.
- Airside connection: both concourses sit behind one security checkpoint and are joined by a walkway with moving sidewalks, so either lounge is reachable from any gate.
Lounges at MCI
Escape Lounge MCI (Centurion Studio partner)
- Location: Concourse A, by gate A5, overlooking the gate.
- Access: Free for Amex Platinum cardholders on any airline, and for Delta SkyMiles Reserve cardholders on a same-day Delta-marketed flight. Priority Pass members must pre-book through the Priority Pass link at least 24 hours ahead and bring the card. Anyone can pay ($45 pre-booked, $55 at the door; cashless). Stays are capped at 3 hours.
- Guest policy: Amex says Platinum cardholders can bring two guests free at Escape lounges; children under 3 are free.
- Best for: Everyone who isn't flying Delta — it's the only lounge most MCI passengers can use. It was named Highly Commended Lounge of the Year for North America at Priority Pass's 2026 awards.
Delta Sky Club MCI
- Location: Mezzanine above Concourse B. About 11,200 square feet, with outdoor Sky Decks.
- Access: Same-day Delta flight. Delta SkyMiles Reserve (15 visits a year), Amex Platinum and Business Platinum (10 visits a year; unlimited after $75,000 in annual spend), Sky Club members, Delta One/First passengers and eligible elites. Recommended strategy
- If you fly Delta often from MCI: Delta SkyMiles Reserve. You get the Sky Club and, on the same Delta trip, the Escape Lounge if the club is busy.
- If you want one card that covers the best lounges: Amex Platinum. It's the only card that gets you into both MCI lounges, and you can walk into Escape without pre-booking.
- If you want strong lounges at a lower cost: Venture X. Priority Pass covers Escape, but you must pre-book 24 hours ahead, and guests cost $35 each.
- If you fly American or United: there's no airline club at MCI. A Priority Pass card or Platinum gets you into Escape, and your co-brand club card pays off at the connecting hub.
No card? Day passes & other options
The Escape Lounge sells entry to anyone: $45 if you book at least 24 hours ahead, $55 at the door. Delta doesn't sell Sky Club day passes. Active-duty military can use the USO landside behind baggage claim 5.
FAQ
Is there a Centurion Lounge at MCI? No. The Escape Lounge in Concourse A is an Amex "Centurion Studio" partner, so Platinum cardholders get in free with two guests on any airline — the closest thing to a Centurion at MCI.
Does Priority Pass work at MCI? Yes, at the Escape Lounge by gate A5. Priority Pass members must pre-book through the Priority Pass link at least 24 hours ahead; walk-ins may be turned away when it's full.
Amex Platinum vs Sapphire Reserve vs Venture X: which is best at MCI? Platinum is the only one that covers both lounges: Escape without pre-booking and the Sky Club on Delta flights. Sapphire Reserve and Venture X both get Escape via Priority Pass. Venture X is $400 cheaper; Reserve includes two free Priority Pass guests versus $35 each with Venture X.
Can I use the Sky Club if I'm flying Southwest? No. You need a same-day Delta flight. Southwest flyers in Concourse B can walk to the Escape Lounge in Concourse A without rescreening.
Is there an Admirals Club or United Club at MCI? No. American and United don't have lounges in the new terminal. The Escape Lounge is the option for those passengers.
