Best Credit Cards & Lounge Access at Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG)

By Krit · Updated · How we research

Lounge access rules change often — confirm in the lounge's app or the card's benefits page before you fly.

Charles de Gaulle is Air France's hub and Delta's main Paris gateway, with United, American and dozens of foreign airlines too. It is one of the weakest big airports in Europe for US credit card lounge access: there's no Centurion Lounge at CDG, no Plaza Premium lounge, and Priority Pass at CDG is a single hotel lobby in Terminal 2E. Airline status and premium-cabin tickets do most of the work here.

Quick answer

  • Best overall for CDG lounge access: Airline status, not a card. SkyTeam Elite Plus (Delta Gold Medallion and up) opens the Air France lounges when you fly SkyTeam internationally.
  • Best card option: Any Priority Pass card (Amex Platinum, Chase Sapphire Reserve, Capital One Venture X) gets you the YotelAir lobby in 2E — useful for a shower or a seat, not a full lounge
  • Best value for Priority Pass: Venture X, since Priority Pass alone isn't worth paying much for at CDG
  • Best for frequent Delta flyers: Delta Medallion status (SkyTeam Elite Plus) or a Delta One ticket for the Air France lounges in 2E

Airport snapshot

Terminal 2 is a string of separate halls. Air France and Delta use 2E (halls K, L and M) for long-haul and 2F/2G for Schengen flights. Star Alliance airlines, including United, moved to the rebuilt Terminal 1. Other carriers are spread across 2A, 2B, 2C and 2D. Paris Orly (ORY) is the city's second airport.

Where to go by terminal

Terminal Airlines Lounges there
Terminal 1 United, Star Alliance, Qatar Star Alliance, Lufthansa, Qatar, Extime (paid)
2A / 2C Air Canada, Emirates, others Emirates, Primeclass, Salon Paul Maxence
2B / 2D Finnair, SAS, ITA, others Extime (paid)
2E (K, L, M) Air France, Delta, SkyTeam long-haul 3 Air France lounges, La Première, YotelAir (Priority Pass)
2F / 2G Air France Schengen flights Air France lounges

CDG rescreens passengers between most buildings, so assume you'll only use lounges in your own hall. 2A and 2C connect airside, as do 2B and 2D; the 2E halls are linked by an internal train, and 2G is a bus ride away.

Lounges at CDG

Air France lounges (2E, 2F, 2G)

  • Location: One lounge in each of 2E halls K, L and M (hall K reopened in April 2025 with about 640 seats), plus 2F and 2G. The La Première lounge has its own entrance near hall K.
  • Access: Air France and SkyTeam business class, Flying Blue Gold and Platinum, and SkyTeam Elite Plus on an international SkyTeam flight. That includes Delta One passengers and Delta Gold, Platinum and Diamond Medallions.
  • Guest policy: Set by Air France and your status tier.
  • Best for: Delta and Air France flyers with status. No US credit card opens these lounges.

Star Alliance and Lufthansa lounges (Terminal 1)

  • Location: The Star Alliance Lounge is in the Terminal 1 satellite serving gates 10–26 (opened late 2023); the Lufthansa lounges are on the Schengen side near gates 60–68.
  • Access: Star Alliance business and first class, and Star Alliance Gold. Priority Pass doesn't work here. Amex Platinum also lost its Lufthansa lounge benefit on October 1, 2026.
  • Guest policy: Star Alliance Gold members can usually bring one guest on a Star flight.
  • Best for: United flyers with Premier Gold or higher, or Polaris passengers.

Extime lounges (Terminal 1 and 2B/2D)

  • Location: Terminal 1 and the 2B/2D building.
  • Access: Business and elite passengers on contract airlines, or paid entry. The 2B/2D lounge was listed from €95, with entry capped at 3 hours before departure.
  • Guest policy: Pay per person.
  • Best for: A long wait in 2B/2D if you don't mind paying. No card program is accepted.

Priority Pass at CDG

  • Terminal 2E, hall L (before security): YotelAir Paris Charles de Gaulle, open 24 hours. It's a hotel lobby with a set food and drink allowance and paid showers, not a full lounge, and it sits landside.
  • Access: Amex Platinum, Sapphire Reserve, Venture X and Citi Strata Elite Priority Pass memberships after enrollment. The Star Alliance lounge that used to accept Priority Pass closed in early 2024, and its replacement doesn't.

Recommended strategy

  • If you fly Delta or Air France often: Status is the lounge key at CDG. Delta Gold Medallion or higher (SkyTeam Elite Plus) gets you into the Air France lounges on international trips.
  • If you fly United: Premier Gold (Star Alliance Gold) or a Polaris ticket opens the Terminal 1 Star Alliance Lounge.
  • If you want one card for Europe: Pick for your connecting airport, not CDG. Amex Platinum is far stronger at London Heathrow (Centurion) and Amsterdam (Centurion).
  • If you're on a budget: Don't buy a card for CDG. Venture X's Priority Pass covers the YotelAir lobby and more useful lounges at your other airports.

FAQ

Is there a Centurion Lounge at CDG? No. Amex lists only the Priority Pass YotelAir lobby in 2E for US Platinum cardholders at Paris CDG. The nearest European Centurion Lounges are London Heathrow and Amsterdam.

Which Priority Pass lounges are at CDG? Just one: YotelAir in Terminal 2E, hall L, before security. Priority Pass at CDG is thin compared with London or Frankfurt.

Amex Platinum vs Sapphire Reserve vs Venture X at CDG? All three get you the same thing at CDG: the YotelAir lobby through Priority Pass. Venture X does it for the lowest fee, and the Sapphire Reserve adds two free guests. Choose based on your home airport and the rest of your trip.

Can I buy my way into a lounge at CDG? Yes. The Extime lounges in Terminal 1 and 2B/2D sell entry, and Air France sells La Première lounge access to some long-haul business passengers. Prices are set at booking or at the door.
