Lounge access rules change often — confirm in the lounge's app or the card's benefits page before you fly.
Frankfurt is Lufthansa's main hub and a common connection point between the US and the rest of Europe, Africa and Asia. FRA lounge access changed a lot in 2026: Terminal 3 opened in April, Terminal 2 has emptied out, and Amex Platinum lost its Lufthansa lounge benefit on October 1. The good news for US cardholders is that Priority Pass at FRA now includes real airline lounges in Terminal 3. There's no Centurion Lounge at FRA.

Quick answer
- Best overall for FRA lounge access: Any Priority Pass card — Amex Platinum, Chase Sapphire Reserve or Capital One Venture X — for the Terminal 3 SkyTeam, Air France and Priority lounges
- Best for Priority Pass at FRA with companions: Chase Sapphire Reserve, with two free guests
- Best value for Priority Pass: Capital One Venture X ($395), though guests now cost $35
- Best for frequent Lufthansa and United flyers: Star Alliance Gold status (United Premier Gold and up) — no US card opens the Lufthansa lounges anymore
Airport snapshot
Terminal 1 (concourses A, B, C and Z) is Lufthansa, United and Star Alliance territory, with the biggest lounge network at the airport. The new Terminal 3 (opened April 2026) is home to most other airlines, including SkyTeam and the Gulf carriers, and it's where the Priority Pass airline lounges are. Terminal 2 has been winding down.
Where to go by terminal
| Terminal | Airlines | Lounges there |
|---|---|---|
| Terminal 1 (A, B, C, Z) | Lufthansa, United, Star Alliance | Lufthansa lounges, Maple Leaf, LuxxLounge (landside, Priority Pass) |
| Terminal 3 | SkyTeam, Emirates, most non-Lufthansa airlines | SkyTeam, Air France, Priority Lounge (all Priority Pass), Emirates |
| Terminal 2 | Being vacated | No Priority Pass lounge listed |
Plan to use lounges in your own terminal. Terminal 3 is a separate building reached by the SkyLine people mover, and you should expect to clear security there. Within Terminal 1, concourse A is largely Schengen while B and Z are non-Schengen, so you pass passport control between them.

Air France Lounge (Terminal 3)
- Location: Terminal 3. It replaced the old Terminal 2 Air France lounge.
- Access: Air France premium passengers and SkyTeam elites, plus Priority Pass.
- Guest policy: Priority Pass rules as above.
- Best for: A second Priority Pass option in Terminal 3 if the SkyTeam Lounge is full.
Priority Lounge (Terminal 3)
- Location: Terminal 3, area J, after security.

- Guest policy: Priority Pass rules as above.
- Best for: Non-Schengen departures from Terminal 3.
Lufthansa lounges (Terminal 1)

- Best for: United and Lufthansa elites and premium-cabin passengers. The Welcome Lounge is for arriving long-haul Lufthansa premium passengers and top elites.

Recommended strategy
- If you fly Lufthansa or United from Terminal 1: Your only card option is the landside LuxxLounge. Star Alliance Gold (United Premier Gold or higher) or a business-class ticket is what gets you into the Lufthansa lounges.
- If you fly Delta or another Terminal 3 airline: Any Priority Pass card is excellent here — the SkyTeam and Air France lounges are better than most Priority Pass lounges in the US.
- If you want strong lounges at a lower cost: Venture X covers all four FRA Priority Pass lounges for $395; the Sapphire Reserve is better if you bring guests.
- If you're connecting from T1 to T3: Allow extra time for the SkyLine and security before counting on a lounge visit.
FAQ
Can Amex Platinum still get me into Lufthansa lounges in Frankfurt? No. Amex Platinum lost the Lufthansa lounge benefit on October 1, 2026. You now need a Lufthansa Group business or first class ticket or Star Alliance Gold status.
Is there a Centurion Lounge at Frankfurt? No. US Platinum cardholders get the four FRA Priority Pass lounges instead. The nearest Centurion Lounges in Europe are London Heathrow and Amsterdam.
Amex Platinum vs Sapphire Reserve vs Venture X at FRA? They're equal at the door: each includes the same four Priority Pass lounges. The Sapphire Reserve's two free guests make it best for couples and families, Venture X is the cheapest way in, and the Platinum only pulls ahead because of Centurion Lounges at other airports.
Is Frankfurt Terminal 3 open? Yes. It opened in late April 2026, and its SkyTeam Lounge opened April 22, 2026. Most non-Lufthansa airlines moved there during 2026.
