What Hyatt points are worth
We value World of Hyatt points at 1.7¢ each — roughly double Marriott and triple Hilton. Hyatt still uses a published award chart rather than pure dynamic pricing, but the protection is weaker than it used to be: since May 20, 2026, each category prices across five tiers (Lowest, Low, Moderate, Upper, Top), so the points price now climbs with demand too. Awards remain capped at the category's Top-tier rate — but on high-demand dates that cap sits well above the old peak prices.
The award chart
Hyatt overhauled the chart on May 20, 2026: the old off-peak/standard/peak structure is gone, replaced by five pricing tiers per category (Lowest, Low, Moderate, Upper, Top). Standard-room awards still follow a published chart, but the spread within each category is now much wider:
- Category 1 now tops out at 9,000 points a night (the old peak was 6,500).
- Category 8 now runs 35,000–75,000 points a night — the top end is up 67% from the old 45,000 peak.
- The middle "Moderate" tier prices roughly 20–37.5% above the old standard rates.

All-inclusive and Miraval resorts, plus Small Luxury Hotels (SLH) and Lindblad expeditions, use separate charts — often exceptional value at the top end.
How to earn Hyatt points
- Transfer from Chase Ultimate Rewards, instantly — still 1:1 from the Sapphire Reserve or Sapphire Reserve for Business, but Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred cards opened after June 15, 2026 transfer at 4:3, and existing CSP holders moved to 4:3 on 1 October 2026. This is the primary way most people top up Hyatt. (Also a Bilt transfer partner — still 1:1.)

Best uses (sweet spots), with examples
1. Cap a holiday-inflated rate — with a caveat. This play is weaker since the May 2026 chart change: when a hotel's cash rate spikes over a holiday, the award now climbs the five-tier chart too. The category's Top-tier price is still a hard cap, but it sits far above the old peak rates — so run the math date by date instead of assuming a flat award price.
2. Points + suite upgrade as a Globalist. Book a standard-room award night, get upgraded to a $520 suite for free — the suite's cash rate against a standard-room points price can double or triple your effective value, in a much better room.
3. Small Luxury Hotels (SLH). Boutique luxury properties worldwide join the chart via SLH — frequently 2–3¢/point at hotels that rarely discount for cash.
4. All-inclusive resorts. A $700/night all-in beach resort at ~25,000–30,000 points = ~2.5¢/point, with food and drinks included.
5. Free anniversary night. The Hyatt card's annual Category 1–4 free night, used at a $250 Category 4 hotel, alone can more than cover the card's $95 fee.
