Best Credit Cards & Lounge Access for Portland (PDX) Flyers

By Krit · Updated · How we research

Lounge access rules change often — confirm in the lounge's app or the card's benefits page before you fly.

Portland is Alaska Airlines' second home after Seattle, and in June 2026 Alaska doubled the size of its PDX lounge. For bank cards there's no Centurion Lounge at PDX and no Chase or Capital One lounge, but the Escape Lounge in Concourse D takes Priority Pass, Amex Platinum and Delta Reserve, so the best credit card for Portland flyers depends on whether you fly Alaska.

Quick answer

  • Best overall for PDX lounge access: Amex Platinum — includes the Escape Lounge, Delta Sky Club visits on Delta flights and Priority Pass
  • Best value for Priority Pass: Capital One Venture X — Priority Pass PDX means the Escape Lounge in Concourse D (there's no Capital One Lounge)
  • Best for frequent Alaska flyers: Atmos Rewards Summit with Alaska Lounge access (eight passes a year)
  • Best for frequent Delta flyers: Delta SkyMiles Reserve with Sky Club access, plus the Escape Lounge on Delta flights

Airport snapshot

PDX has one terminal under a new timber roof, with four concourses (B, C, D and E) all connected after security. Alaska and its regional sister Horizon run from Concourses B and C, Delta's club is in D, and Southwest and United sit in E. Concourse D is the lounge cluster: the Escape Lounge and the Delta Sky Club are a few gates apart. The Alaska Lounge is at the top of Concourse C.

Where to go by terminal

Terminal Airlines Lounges there
Concourse B Alaska / Horizon regional flights None
Concourse C Alaska, plus some other carriers Alaska Lounge
Concourse D Delta and others Escape Lounge, Delta Sky Club
Concourse E Southwest, United United Club

All concourses connect airside, so you can use any lounge whichever gate you leave from. Concourse assignments shift, so check your airline app.

Lounges at PDX

There's no Centurion Lounge at PDX.

Alaska Lounge PDX

  • Location: Top of Concourse C, near gates C4–C5 just past the south checkpoint. About 14,000 square feet, opened June 4, 2026, with a fireplace and a Mt. Hood mural.
  • Access: Alaska Lounge and Lounge+ members, eligible first-class passengers, and eligible oneworld and partner passengers. Atmos Rewards Summit cardholders get eight passes a year (two per quarter) with a same-day boarding pass on Alaska, Hawaiian, a oneworld airline or an Alaska partner. Day passes cost $65 when space allows. Priority Pass doesn't get you in.
  • Guest policy: Each Summit pass covers one adult plus up to two children. A pass lasts the whole travel day.
  • Best for: Alaska flyers. It's now the nicest lounge at PDX.

Escape Lounge PDX

  • Location: Concourse D, between gates D8 and D10. Opened April 2025.
  • Access: Free for Amex Platinum, Business Platinum and Centurion cardholders on any airline; Delta SkyMiles Reserve cardholders on a Delta flight; Priority Pass members (pre-booking available). Walk-in entry is $45, or $40 booked a day ahead.
  • Guest policy: Priority Pass guests follow your card's rules. Amex doesn't spell out its 2026 Escape guest allowance, so check the Amex app before bringing someone.
  • Best for: Non-Alaska flyers with any premium card. It's the one lounge at PDX that almost every premium card opens.

Delta Sky Club PDX

  • Location: Concourse D, between gates D5 and D7.
  • Access: Same-day Delta flight (not Basic Economy). Delta SkyMiles Reserve gets 15 visits a year; Amex Platinum and Business Platinum get 10; both become unlimited after $75,000 in annual spend. Also Sky Club members, Medallion and SkyTeam Elite Plus members. No day passes.
  • Guest policy: $50 per guest, up to two.
  • Best for: Delta flyers. The Escape Lounge is next door if you're out of visits.

United Club PDX

  • Location: Concourse E, mezzanine level near the start of the concourse. Hours and exact location have been reported inconsistently, so check the United app.
  • Access: United Club members and United Club card holders with a same-day United or Star Alliance flight; $59 one-time passes.
  • Guest policy: United Club card membership includes one guest.
  • Best for: United flyers in Concourse E.

Priority Pass at PDX

  • Escape Lounge — Concourse D, between D8 and D10. Real lounge; pre-booking available.
  • Capers Bistro — Concourse C. Restaurant credit (Amex Platinum, Sapphire Reserve, Venture X and Citi Strata Elite memberships don't include restaurants).
  • Access: Any Priority Pass Select card. Amex, Sapphire Reserve and Strata Elite memberships include two free guests; Venture X charges $35 per guest.

Best credit cards for PDX

Card Annual fee Lounges you get at PDX Guests Best if you…
Atmos Rewards Summit $395 Alaska Lounge (8 passes a year) Kids on pass fly Alaska
Amex Platinum $895 Escape, Sky Club (10 visits on Delta), PP Sky Club $50 fly several airlines
Capital One Venture X $395 Escape (PP) $35 each want the lowest fee
Chase Sapphire Reserve $795 Escape (PP) 2 free travel with others
Delta SkyMiles Reserve $650 Sky Club (15 visits), Escape on Delta $50 each; 4 free passes fly Delta

Recommended strategy

  • If you fly Alaska often from PDX: Start with the Atmos Summit. Two passes a quarter cover occasional trips, and the same passes work in Seattle. If you're in the lounge more than twice a quarter, an Alaska Lounge membership is the better buy.
  • If you want one card that covers the best lounges: Amex Platinum gets you the Escape Lounge on any airline and the Sky Club on Delta, and it's strong at SEA (Centurion) too. It doesn't get you into the Alaska Lounge.
  • If you want strong lounges at a lower cost: Venture X. At $395 it covers the Escape Lounge, which is all most non-Alaska flyers need at PDX.
  • If you fly Southwest or United from Concourse E: Use the airside connector to Concourse D and the Escape Lounge; allow time to walk back.

No card? Day passes & other options

The Escape Lounge sells entry to anyone ($40 booked ahead, $45 at the door). Alaska sells $65 Alaska Lounge day passes on a same-day Alaska, Hawaiian or partner ticket, and United sells $59 one-time passes. Delta doesn't sell Sky Club day passes.

FAQ

Is there a Centurion Lounge at PDX? No. Amex Platinum holders at PDX get the Escape Lounge in Concourse D for free, and the Delta Sky Club when flying Delta. The nearest Centurion is in Seattle.

Does Priority Pass work at PDX? Yes, at the Escape Lounge in Concourse D. It doesn't get you into the Alaska Lounge, Sky Club or United Club. Capers Bistro is listed too, but premium card memberships don't include restaurants.

Amex Platinum vs Sapphire Reserve vs Venture X: which is best at PDX? All three get you into the Escape Lounge, so the difference is cost and extras. Venture X does it for $395 but charges $35 per guest. Sapphire Reserve includes two free Priority Pass guests. Platinum adds 10 Delta Sky Club visits if you fly Delta. For PDX alone, Venture X is the value pick.

Which card gets me into the Alaska Lounge at PDX? The Atmos Rewards Summit card, with eight passes a year, two per quarter. Each pass covers one adult and up to two children for the whole travel day. You need a same-day Alaska, Hawaiian, oneworld or Alaska partner boarding pass.
