Best Credit Cards & Lounge Access for Minneapolis–St. Paul (MSP) Flyers

By Krit · Updated · How we research

Lounge access rules change often — confirm in the lounge's app or the card's benefits page before you fly.

MSP is one of Delta's biggest hubs, so most of the best credit card for Minneapolis flyers logic runs through Delta: three Delta Sky Clubs in Terminal 1, plus a Platinum-friendly Escape Lounge and two Priority Pass MSP options for everyone else. There's no Centurion Lounge at MSP, no Chase Sapphire Lounge and no Capital One Lounge — and Terminal 2 (Southwest, Sun Country) has no lounge at all.

Quick answer

  • Best overall for MSP lounge access: Amex Platinum — includes the Escape Lounge (Amex's Centurion Studio partner), the Sky Clubs on Delta flights (10 visits a year) and Priority Pass MSP lounges
  • Best value for Priority Pass: Capital One Venture X — $395 for Priority Pass, which covers the Escape Lounge (pre-book) and the Portal Lounge; there's no Capital One Lounge here
  • Best for frequent Delta flyers: Delta SkyMiles Reserve with Sky Club access (15 visits a year) plus the Escape Lounge on Delta flights
  • Best for frequent United flyers: the United Club card with access to the Concourse E United Club — see our United MileagePlus guide

Airport snapshot

Delta runs the large majority of MSP's flights from Terminal 1, spread across Concourses A, B, C, D, F and G. United, American, Alaska, Air Canada and most other non-Delta carriers use Concourse E. Terminal 2 (the old Humphrey terminal) handles Southwest, Sun Country and a few others; it's a separate building reached by the free light-rail link, and it has no lounges. Delta has picked a space on the upper level of Concourse G for a future Delta One Lounge, but as of April 2026 it was still at the feasibility-study stage with no opening date.

Where to go by terminal

Terminal Airlines Lounges there
T1 Concourses A–D Delta Sky Club (C12), Portal Lounge (C/D corner)
T1 Concourse E United, American, Alaska, Air Canada Escape Lounge, United Club, PGA MSP Lounge
T1 Concourses F–G Delta, international Sky Clubs (F entrance, G17)
Terminal 2 Southwest, Sun Country None

All Terminal 1 concourses are connected after security, so you can walk to any T1 lounge. Terminal 2 isn't connected airside — T2 flyers can't use the T1 lounges without leaving and rescreening.

Lounges at MSP

Delta Sky Club MSP (three locations)

  • Location: Concourse C near gate C12, the Concourse F entrance, and Concourse G near G17. The G club, opened in 2023, is the largest, with an outdoor Sky Deck.
  • Access: Same-day Delta flight. Delta SkyMiles Reserve (15 visits a year), Amex Platinum and Business Platinum (10 visits a year; unlimited after $75,000 in annual spend), Sky Club members, Delta One passengers and eligible Medallion/SkyTeam elites. No day passes.
  • Guest policy: $50 per guest, up to two; Reserve cardholders also get four free guest passes a year.
  • Best for: Delta flyers — there's a club near most Delta gates.

Escape Lounge MSP (Centurion Studio partner)

  • Location: Terminal 1, mezzanine above the entrance to Concourse E.
  • Access: Free for Amex Platinum cardholders on any airline; free for Delta SkyMiles Reserve cardholders on a same-day Delta-marketed flight. Priority Pass members must pre-book through the Priority Pass link and bring the card. Anyone else can pay ($45 pre-booked, $60 walk-up).
  • Guest policy: Amex says Platinum cardholders can bring two guests free at Escape lounges; children under 3 are free.
  • Crowds: Reviewers report it gets crowded and seats can be hard to find at peak times.
  • Best for: Platinum holders not flying Delta, and Priority Pass members who plan ahead.

United Club MSP

  • Location: Concourse E, mezzanine between gates E6 and E8.
  • Access: United Club members and United Club card holders, eligible premium-cabin passengers, and $59 day passes when space allows. Same-day United or Star Alliance boarding pass. It closes earlier than other MSP lounges — check hours in the United app.
  • Guest policy: United Club card membership includes one adult guest plus dependents.
  • Best for: United flyers on Concourse E.

Priority Pass at MSP

  • Escape Lounge — Concourse E mezzanine. Real lounge; pre-booking required for Priority Pass.
  • Portal Lounge (Gameway) — corner of Concourses C and D, near the train. A gaming lounge with a buffet and full bar that opened in May 2026; unlike Gameway's other locations, it's part of the Priority Pass lounge network. Small (about 3,800 sq ft), so entry is space-permitting.
  • PGA MSP Lounge — between Concourses D and E. Golf simulators; Priority Pass gives a credit or discount rather than a full lounge visit.
  • Access: Priority Pass Select from Amex Platinum, Sapphire Reserve, Venture X or Citi Strata Elite covers the lounges (Escape and Portal). These memberships are lounges-only, so don't count on restaurant-style credits.

Recommended strategy

  • If you fly Delta often from MSP: Delta SkyMiles Reserve. Fifteen Sky Club visits a year plus the Escape Lounge on Delta days covers most travelers; heavy flyers can unlock unlimited visits at $75,000 in spend.
  • If you want one card that covers the best lounges: Amex Platinum. It's the only card that gets you into both the Sky Clubs (on Delta) and the Escape Lounge without pre-booking, with two free guests at Escape.
  • If you want strong lounges at a lower cost: Venture X. Priority Pass gets you into Escape and the Portal Lounge, but pre-book Escape and budget $35 per guest. Sapphire Reserve isn't worth its fee for MSP lounges alone — its Sapphire Lounges are elsewhere.
  • If you fly Southwest or Sun Country from Terminal 2: there's no lounge in T2. A lounge card only helps on the other end or on connections.

No card? Day passes & other options

The Escape Lounge sells passes to anyone ($45 pre-booked, $60 at the door), the United Club sells $59 day passes when space allows, and the Portal Lounge sells walk-in entry subject to capacity. Delta doesn't sell Sky Club day passes.

FAQ

Is there a Centurion Lounge at MSP? No. The closest thing is the Escape Lounge above Concourse E, which is an Amex "Centurion Studio" partner — Platinum cardholders get in free with two guests, on any airline.

Does Priority Pass work at MSP? Yes, at the Escape Lounge (pre-booking required) and the Portal Lounge between Concourses C and D, plus a benefit at the PGA MSP Lounge. None of them are in Terminal 2.

Amex Platinum vs Sapphire Reserve vs Venture X: which is best at MSP? Platinum, clearly, if you value MSP lounges: it adds walk-in Escape access and Sky Club visits on Delta flights on top of Priority Pass. Sapphire Reserve and Venture X both get only Priority Pass here (Escape with pre-booking, Portal). Between those two, Venture X costs $400 less; Reserve includes two free Priority Pass guests versus $35 each with Venture X.

Is a Delta One Lounge coming to MSP? Delta has identified a roughly 20,000 sq ft space on the upper level of Concourse G, and the airport board was weighing a feasibility study in April 2026. Delta hasn't announced a timeline, so don't expect it soon.

Are there lounges in MSP Terminal 2? No. Terminal 2 serves Southwest, Sun Country and a few other carriers and has no airline or Priority Pass lounge.
