Centurion Lounge Phoenix (PHX): Access, Guests & Review

By Krit · Updated · How we research

Lounge access rules change often — confirm in the lounge's app or the card's benefits page before you fly.

The Centurion Lounge PHX is on the upper level of Terminal 4, across from gate B22 in American Airlines' B concourse. It's a compact lounge with a buffet, a bar and a shower. It's worth a stop if you're flying from Terminal 4 with an Amex Platinum, but it's out of reach for anyone departing Terminal 3.

How to get in

  • Amex Platinum and Business Platinum ($895 each): Free entry for the cardmember with a same-day boarding pass on any airline. American, Southwest and every other T4 airline count.
  • Delta SkyMiles Reserve ($650): Only when you're flying Delta that day on a ticket bought with the card. Delta flies from Terminal 3, so in practice this route rarely works at PHX.
  • Centurion (black card): Free, with two guests or immediate family included.
  • What doesn't work: Priority Pass, day passes, Amex Gold or Delta Platinum. There's no access on arrival.

One PHX-specific rule: Amex's lounge page says cardmembers may not visit both the Centurion Lounge and the Escape Lounge at Phoenix on the same day. If you plan to use the Escape Lounge (also on the B concourse, or the one in Terminal 3), that uses up your Amex lounge visit at PHX for the day.

Guest policy

Since July 8, 2026, Platinum and Business Platinum guests cost $50 per adult and $30 per child aged 2–17, and children under 2 are free. Every guest has to be on the same flight as you. Spend $75,000 on the card in a calendar year and two guests per visit become complimentary. Delta Reserve holders can bring up to two guests at $50 each on a Delta flight. Traveling as a family of four? Compare that $110-per-visit cost with the Chase Sapphire Lounge in Terminal 4, where Sapphire Reserve holders bring two guests free.

What it's like

This is one of the smaller lounges in the network. Upgraded Points describes it as "relatively small," with most of the floor given to dining seating and the bar. Food is a self-serve hot and cold buffet with seasonal dishes, and the bar serves cocktails, wine (selected by sommelier Helen Johannesen, per Amex) and non-alcoholic drinks. There's a coffee station, outlets at most seats, TVs and a few workspaces for individuals and small groups. A shower is available; ask at the front desk.

Because it's small and sits in a busy American hub concourse, expect it to fill up at peak times. When a US Centurion Lounge is full, the Amex app offers a digital waitlist (introduced September 2025): it shows how busy the lounge is, and you get 10 minutes to check in once your turn comes. You can join from the security line, so check the app before you walk over.

Getting there

Clear security in Terminal 4 and head for the B gates. The lounge is on the upper level across from gate B22, next to the T4 Escape Lounge. From Southwest's south concourses (including S1), it's a walk back through the T4 main hall; allow 10 to 15 minutes. Terminal 3 isn't connected airside: the PHX Sky Train runs outside security, so a T3 passenger would have to leave, ride over and rescreen. Most T3 flyers are better off at the T3 Escape Lounge or Sky Club.

Nearby alternatives

  • Chase Sapphire Lounge (Terminal 4, near gate D11): Sapphire Reserve, with two free guests. Best for Southwest flyers.
  • Escape Lounge (T4 near B22, and T3): Amex Platinum (but not on the same day as the Centurion), Priority Pass at the T3 location, or a day pass.
  • Admirals Clubs (three in T4): Citi AAdvantage Executive, status or a day pass.
  • Delta Sky Club and United Club (T3): For Delta and United flyers.

FAQ

Where is the Centurion Lounge at Phoenix Sky Harbor? Terminal 4, on the upper level across from gate B22, after security. It's on American's side of T4; Southwest flyers in the south concourses can walk to it airside.

Can I use the Centurion Lounge if I'm flying from Terminal 3? Not without leaving security. Terminals 3 and 4 aren't connected airside, so you'd take the Sky Train and clear security again in T4, then come back. It's rarely worth it.

Can I visit the Centurion and the Escape Lounge on the same day at PHX? No. Amex says cardmembers can't use both the Centurion Lounge and the Escape Lounge at Phoenix on the same day, so pick one.

How much does a guest cost at the Centurion Lounge PHX? $50 per adult and $30 per child aged 2 to 17, and the guest must be on your flight. Two guests are free after you spend $75,000 on the card in a calendar year.

Does the PHX Centurion Lounge have showers? Yes. Ask at the front desk; availability depends on demand.
