The Capital One Lounge at Washington Dulles is in the main terminal, just past the security checkpoint and before the AeroTrain, so every departing passenger walks right by it. That location is its biggest strength and its main drawback: it's easy to use before any flight, but it's a train ride from most gates. After months of reduced service, it returned to full operation on Sept. 18, 2026.

How to get in
Venture X or Venture X Business. Show your physical card or the app's digital lounge pass and a same-day boarding pass with a confirmed seat. See the Venture X guide.
Authorized users. Since Feb. 1, 2026 they need a $125-a-year add-on paid by the primary cardholder.
Other Capital One cards. Venture, Venture Business and Spark Miles cardholders pay $45 per adult ($25 per child).
Everyone else. $90 per visit, subject to space.
What doesn't work. Priority Pass or any non-Capital One card.
Guest policy
Guests are $45 each (18 and up) or $25 (17 and under); under-2s are free and minors must be with a parent or guardian. Reach $75,000 in net purchases on a Venture X or Venture X Business account in a calendar year and up to two guests per visit are free at Capital One Lounges, through the rest of that year, the next year and until Jan. 31 after that, per Capital One's terms.
What it's like
The 2026 fix. For several months in 2026 the lounge ran at limited service while Capital One upgraded ventilation and climate control; during that time a food counter and café seating operated just outside. TPG reported full service resumed Sept. 18, 2026, with the layout unchanged.
Food and drink. OMAAT's review praised the food: buffet dishes are individually plated rather than scooped from trays. There's a full-service coffee bar near the entrance, self-serve drink stations with cold brew, a full bar with cocktails from Unfiltered, and grab-and-go items.
Seating. A mix of lounge chairs, dining tables, high-tops at the bar and semi-private nooks, plus six individual gender-neutral restrooms. AwardWallet notes quieter sequestered areas away from the bar. It doesn't have showers or special wellness rooms, unlike DFW and Denver.
- Crowds: OMAAT reader reports are mixed: some say it fills quickly and runs short on seats (one reported a 45-minute wait), while another found it far from full around 8:30 a.m. Joining the app waitlist as soon as you land or clear security helps.
Getting there
If you're starting your trip at Dulles, go through the main checkpoint, walk straight past the PreCheck area, and the entrance is on the right by the escalators. You're still in the main terminal, so after your visit you take the AeroTrain or walkway to your concourse. United uses C and D (regional flights on E); foreign airlines use A and B. Allow real time for that trip, especially to the A gates.
Connecting passengers can reach it airside but have to ride the AeroTrain back to the main terminal, which OMAAT calls less convenient for connections.
