Las Vegas to New York is about 2,243 miles (LAS–JFK). You can fly it nonstop on American, Delta, JetBlue and United. The cheapest way to book it on points is usually Delta SkyMiles from 10,000 points one-way on Delta, with $5.60 in taxes. That's a lot of trip for the points: New York means Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island and Central Park.

How each airline prices Las Vegas to New York

Every program uses its own method, which is why the same seat can cost very different amounts. Here's the math for each program that books this trip, cheapest first:

  • JetBlue TrueBlue (on JetBlue): Tied to the cash fare. JetBlue has no award chart: the points price is the cash fare divided by about 1.3–1.35 cents. Around 7,000 is typical on a sale fare for this trip.
  • Delta SkyMiles (on Delta): Dynamic pricing. Delta sets the price of its own flights by demand, like a cash fare; there's no chart. About 10,000 is the lowest economy price seen for a 2,243 miles domestic trip on off-peak dates, and about 20,000 in first. Busy dates can cost several times more.
  • United MileagePlus (on United): Dynamic pricing. United sets the price of its own flights by demand, like a cash fare; there's no chart. About 10,000 is the lowest economy price seen for a 2,243 miles domestic trip on off-peak dates, and about 25,000 in first. Busy dates can cost several times more.
  • Air France-KLM Flying Blue (on Delta): Dynamic pricing. Flying Blue prices Delta flights by demand, with no chart, and since September 2026 the price also depends on the fare type you pick. Trips this long have been seen as low as 11,000 in economy, often below SkyMiles for the same seat. Taxes are higher, about $20–30.
  • AAdvantage (on American): Dynamic pricing. American sets the price of its own flights by demand, like a cash fare; there's no chart. About 12,500 is the lowest economy price seen for a 2,243 miles domestic trip on off-peak dates, and about 25,000 in first. Busy dates can cost several times more.
  • Air Canada Aeroplan (on United): Distance chart. Aeroplan prices United flights within North America by total distance. The 2,243-mile nonstop falls in the 1,501–2,750-mile band: from 12,500 economy, 25,000 business, plus a booking fee of about $30. That's the starting price; United can release seats above it.
  • Turkish Miles&Smiles (on United): Zone chart. Turkish charges one flat price for any United flight within the US, short or long: 15,000 economy, 22,500 business.
  • Cathay Asia Miles (on American): Distance chart, whole trip. Cathay Asia Miles prices American and Alaska flights by total distance. The 2,243-mile nonstop falls in the 751–2,750-mile band: 15,000 economy, 33,000 business.
  • Avianca LifeMiles (on United): Unpublished chart. LifeMiles doesn't publish its prices for United flights and changed them without notice in 2025. About 15,000 is what it has been charging for a trip like this; check lifemiles.com before you transfer.
  • Atmos Rewards (on American): Distance chart for partner flights. Atmos prices American-operated flights by distance. The 2,243-mile nonstop falls in the 2,101–4,000-mile band: 17,500 economy, 35,000 first, plus a $20 partner fee each way.
  • Qantas Frequent Flyer (on American): Distance chart, whole trip. Qantas adds up every flight in the trip and prices the total, so a short connection doesn't add a second charge. The 2,243-mile nonstop falls in the 1,201–2,400-mile band: 20,700 economy, 43,600 business, on American or Alaska.
  • British Airways Avios (on American): Distance chart, per flight. British Airways charges each flight separately by its length. The 2,243-mile nonstop falls in the 2,001–3,000-mile band of the chart BA uses for American and Alaska flights: about 22,000 economy, 55,000 business/first. A connection would be two charges, so it's quoted for nonstops only.
  • Virgin Atlantic Flying Club (on Delta): Distance chart, per flight. Virgin Atlantic charges each Delta flight separately by its length. The 2,243-mile nonstop falls in the 2,001–3,000-mile band: 22,000 economy, 70,000 up front. Nonstops only; a connection would be two charges.

American LAS–JFK Year-round

What it's worth

A useful test: bank points are worth about 1.5 cents each when you could use them elsewhere. So 10,000 points is a good deal when the cash fare is above about $156. On Las Vegas–New York, that's common on busy dates and in the last few weeks before travel, when fares jump and fixed award charts don't. For a premium seat, 20,000 points pays off when the cash fare tops about $306. See our points valuations for each program.

How to book

Delta SkyMiles

Delta SkyMiles prices its own flights dynamically. Off-peak economy starts around 10,000 and first around 20,000 on Delta's LAS–JFK nonstop. Delta prices track cash fares. Search the flexible-date calendar and wait for SkyMiles flash sales (domestic 5,000-10,000 one-way). Feeds: Amex Membership Rewards 1:1 and the Delta SkyMiles Gold American Express and Delta SkyMiles Platinum American Express.

JetBlue TrueBlue

JetBlue TrueBlue has no award chart: points cost about the cash fare divided by 1.3–1.4 cents, so expect around 7,000 on a sale fare. Points come back if you cancel. Points are worth about 1.3-1.35 cpp (TPG 1.35, Frequent Miler 1.3, 2026), so compare the points price with the cash fare. Points+Cash is available. Feeds: Chase Ultimate Rewards 1:1, Amex Membership Rewards 5:4, Capital One miles 5:3, Citi ThankYou 1:1, Bilt Points 1:1, Wells Fargo Rewards 1:1 and the JetBlue Premier Card.

United MileagePlus

United MileagePlus prices its own flights dynamically. Off-peak economy starts around 10,000 and first around 25,000 on United's LAS–JFK nonstop. Holding a United co-brand card (from 2026-04-02) takes at least 10% off every United-operated award (15% if also Premier) and unlocks more saver space. The discount is displayed to everyone, but only cardholders get it. Feeds: Chase Ultimate Rewards 1:1, Bilt Points 1:1 and the United Club Business Card.

Air France-KLM Flying Blue

Flying Blue books Delta seats, from about 11,000 in economy for 2026 travel, often 20–33% under SkyMiles. Taxes run about $20–30. For 2026 Delta travel Flying Blue often undercuts SkyMiles by 20-33% in economy, so always compare before using SkyMiles. Feeds: Chase Ultimate Rewards 1:1, Amex Membership Rewards 1:1, Capital One miles 1:1, Citi ThankYou 1:1, Bilt Points 1:1, Wells Fargo Rewards 1:1 and the Air France KLM Visa Signature Credit Card.

Finding availability

  • Book early. Schedules open about 330–337 days ahead on the US airlines. Saver seats are easiest to find in the first few weeks and again in the last two weeks if planes aren't full.
  • Search the airline's own site first. Jetblue.com, delta.com and united.com show the seat; then price the same flight with each partner program.
  • Use flexible-date calendars. One day either side often halves a dynamic price.
  • Transfer last. Bank transfers are one-way. Find the seat, then move exactly the points you need.
  • When to go: April–June and September–early November bring comfortable weather; the holidays (late November–December) are festive but busy and expensive, while January–February are cheapest.

Who should do it

  • Anyone holding Chase Ultimate Rewards, Amex Membership Rewards, Capital One miles and Citi ThankYou: they move into these programs.
  • Delta SkyMiles members who already have miles in the account.
  • Travelers with fixed dates on busy weeks, when cash fares spike but chart prices hold.
  • Families on a budget: JetBlue TrueBlue points cost roughly the fare in cents, with free changes.

What to do in New York

  • Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island: National monuments in New York Harbor, reached only by Statue City Cruises from Battery Park or Liberty State Park; pedestal and crown tickets must be booked ahead.
  • Central Park: An 843-acre park in the middle of Manhattan with Bethesda Terrace, Bow Bridge and the Central Park Zoo.
  • The Metropolitan Museum of Art: One of the world's largest art museums, on Fifth Avenue at Central Park.
  • 9/11 Memorial & Museum: Twin reflecting pools on the original World Trade Center footprints, along with a museum; the One World Observatory is nearby.
  • Broadway and Times Square: The Theater District around Times Square, with discount same-day tickets at the TKTS booth.

Getting around: Use the subway, buses and walking rather than a car, since parking is expensive and a congestion toll applies in Manhattan below 60th Street; the AirTrain links JFK and EWR to transit.

Hotels you can book on points: Park Hyatt New York (Hyatt), Conrad New York Downtown (Hilton) and The Times Square EDITION (Marriott).
