How Much Are Chase Points Worth? About 2¢ Each (2026)

Chase changed how its points redeem in its own travel portal (Points Boost) and cut Hyatt transfers on some cards, so values below reflect those changes.

Chase Ultimate Rewards points are worth about 2.0 cents each to us, because you can transfer them 1:1 to airlines like United and Air Canada. Cash it out and a point is worth 1 cent. Book through Chase Travel and it is 1 cent by default, or up to 2 cents on select "Points Boost" bookings with a Sapphire Reserve. So 50,000 points is $500 in cash, or about $1,000 used well.

The Sapphire changes in plain terms. Points Boost replaced Chase's old flat travel bonus starting June 23, 2025. If you opened a Sapphire Reserve before that date, points you earned before October 26, 2025 still redeem at 1.5¢ in Chase Travel until October 26, 2027. Older Sapphire Preferred accounts keep 1.25¢ on the same terms. Everything else redeems at the 1¢ base or a Boost rate.

10,000, 50,000 and 100,000 Chase points in dollars

Method 10,000 pts 50,000 pts 100,000 pts
Amazon checkout (0.8¢) $80 $400 $800
Cash back (1¢) $100 $500 $1,000
Chase Travel base (1¢) $100 $500 $1,000
Points Boost, Preferred hotel (1.5¢) $150 $750 $1,500
Points Boost, Reserve (2¢) $200 $1,000 $2,000
Our transfer value (2¢) $200 $1,000 $2,000

Transfers are where the ceiling is. A $220 domestic nonstop that costs 12,500 United miles + $5.60 works out to ($220 − $5.60) ÷ 12,500 × 100 = 1.71¢ per point. A lie-flat seat to Europe on Air France-KLM Flying Blue can clear 6¢.

How to get the most from Chase points

  1. Hold a card that can transfer. Only the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Sapphire Reserve, Sapphire Reserve for Business and Ink Business Preferred unlock transfers. Points from a Chase Freedom Unlimited or Chase Freedom Flex must be moved to one of those first.
  2. Check the Hyatt ratio for your card. Since October 1, 2026, the Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred transfer to World of Hyatt at 4:3 (1,000 points become 750). The Sapphire Reserve cards still transfer 1:1. A 25,000-point Hyatt night costs 25,000 Reserve points or about 34,000 Preferred points.
  3. Use Points Boost only when it beats a transfer. A 2¢ Boost on a cash fare is a solid result. A 1¢ base booking is the same as cash back.
  4. Transfer only when you have a seat. Transfers are one-way. Find the award first, then move the points.

The worst ways to use Chase points

  • Amazon and PayPal checkout at about 0.8¢. You lose 20% against plain cash back.
  • Standard Chase Travel bookings at 1¢ when a transfer would get 1.5¢ or more.
  • Hyatt from a Sapphire Preferred when you also hold a Reserve. Move the points to the Reserve and transfer at 1:1.

One caution on cards: the Ink Business Premier earns cash rewards that cannot be transferred, so those points are worth 1¢ flat, not 2¢.

FAQ
