The Centurion Lounge PHL closes on Oct. 16, 2026, and Amex expects it to reopen by the end of 2027. Amex is doubling the Terminal A-West lounge to more than 12,000 square feet over two floors. Until then, Philadelphia has no Centurion Lounge. For most cardholders, the best lounge at PHL in the meantime is the Chase Sapphire Lounge in the D/E connector.

- Amex Platinum / Business Platinum: The cardholder gets in free with ID and a same-day boarding pass on any airline.
- Centurion card: Free, plus two complimentary guests.
- Delta SkyMiles Reserve: Only on a same-day Delta flight booked with the card, with up to two guests at $50 each. Delta flies from Terminal D, a long walk from A-West.
- Not accepted: Priority Pass, Amex Gold, Green or Delta Platinum, and day passes.
During the closure, Amex says eligible cardmembers can use other PHL lounges in its Global Lounge Collection, subject to each lounge's rules. In practice that means the Delta Sky Club on Delta flights (10 visits a year on Platinum), and the Escape Lounge in Terminal D if it opens as reported.
Guest policy
The Centurion rules in force since July 8, 2026 apply when the lounge is open. Guests must be on the same flight as you and cost $50 per adult and $30 per child aged 2–17, and children under 2 are free. Two guests per visit become free after you spend $75,000 on the card in a calendar year.
What it's like
The current lounge opened in 2017 as Amex's eighth US Centurion. View from the Wing puts it at about 6,300 square feet. That's small by today's standards, and less than a third the size of the roughly 20,000-square-foot Sapphire Lounge across the airport. The Centurion site highlights floor-to-ceiling windows, a chef-curated menu, signature cocktails and wines chosen by sommelier Helen Johannesen. Amex lists showers, Wi-Fi, TVs and flight monitors. Menus rotate, so we don't list dishes.
The rebuild: Amex and the Philadelphia Inquirer (Oct. 9, 2026) say the new lounge will be more than 12,000 square feet over two stories. It will have a Blue Roast by American Express coffee and wellness bar serving espresso, cold brew and smoothies, plus work by local artists. View from the Wing reported that the expansion takes over the British Airways Galleries lounge space on the level below. Amex hasn't confirmed that detail.
Crowds: The lounge's small size was the main complaint before the closure. When it filled up, Amex used the Amex-app digital waitlist, where you join from the checkpoint and check in within 10 minutes of being called (per AwardWallet). Expect the same system when it reopens.
Getting there
When it reopens, it will be in Terminal A-West near gate A14, after security. All PHL terminals (A through F) are linked airside by walkways, and the Centurion site also mentions a shuttle bus. That means flyers on American in B/C or on Delta and United in D can reach it without rescreening. Allow 15–20 minutes from D or F. Check hours in the Amex app once it's back.
