Chase Sapphire Lounge San Diego (SAN): Access, Guests & Review

By Krit · Updated · How we research

Lounge access rules change often — confirm in the lounge's app or the card's benefits page before you fly.

The Chase Sapphire Lounge at San Diego is on the upper level of Terminal 2 West, with its entrance beside gate 47. There's no Centurion or Capital One Lounge at SAN, so this is the best credit-card lounge in the city, and it's Chase-only since Aug. 15, 2026. Expect a busy room and a strong bar, and know that it's useless if you're flying Southwest from the new Terminal 1.

How to get in

  • Chase Sapphire Reserve: Unlimited visits. Show your physical card or Chase-issued Priority Pass Select membership with a same-day Terminal 2 boarding pass, on any airline.
  • J.P. Morgan Reserve and Ritz-Carlton cards: Same access; the Ritz-Carlton card is closed to new applicants.
  • Sapphire Reserve for Business: Primary cardmembers only.
  • Who no longer gets in: Since Aug. 15, 2026, Sapphire Lounges are out of Priority Pass, so Amex Platinum, Venture X and Citi Strata Elite holders lost their free annual visit. Their Priority Pass still covers the Aspire Lounge in Terminal 2 East. The Sapphire Preferred has no access.

Guest policy

Two guests per visit are free, additional guests are $27 each, and children under 2 are free. Authorized users on the Sapphire Reserve get the same two free guests. That's the most generous guest deal at SAN: the Delta Sky Club charges Amex cardholders $50 per guest, and Venture X holders pay $35 per guest at the Aspire Lounge.

What it's like

You take the stairs or an elevator up from the gate area; there are two entrances. Inside, the space is a long rectangle split into a foyer, the bar, a café area and several seating rooms, with big west-facing windows over the airfield.

The bar is the focal point. SAN Spotter called it the best bar of any San Diego airport lounge. A Milesmate review (June 17, 2026) describes a cocktail list with local touches and non-alcoholic versions, a Parcelle wine list and local draft beer. Food is a small self-serve buffet plus a made-to-order menu you order by QR code; the reviewer's breakfast arrived in about five minutes, though it came on disposable plates with plastic cutlery.

Crowds: This lounge fills up. SAN Spotter (February 2025) waited a long time to get in and found seating dense with little privacy. Milesmate walked straight in mid-morning in June 2026 but still had to hunt for a seat, and our SAN airport guide notes reviewers report waits at peak times. Join the waitlist in the Chase app as soon as you clear security.

Getting there

After the Terminal 2 checkpoint, head toward the west gates (signs for gates 36–47) and take the elevator or stairs up; the entrance is next to gate 47. It's convenient for the west-side gates, where the Delta Sky Club and United Club also sit, and a fair walk from Terminal 2 East (gates 20–32). Southwest, JetBlue, Frontier, Breeze and Sun Country fly from Terminal 1, which isn't connected airside to Terminal 2, so a Terminal 1 flyer would need to take the shuttle and clear security again.

Nearby alternatives

  • Aspire Lounge: Terminal 2 East, the Priority Pass lounge at SAN; also sells day passes.
  • Delta Sky Club: Terminal 2, between gates 47 and 48, for Delta flyers with access (Platinum 10 visits a year, Delta Reserve 15).
  • United Club: Terminal 2 near gates 47–48.
  • Terminal 1: no lounge yet; an Escape Lounge is expected around 2027.

FAQ

Where is the Chase Sapphire Lounge at San Diego airport? Terminal 2 West, one level above the gates, with its entrance next to gate 47. It's not reachable airside from Terminal 1.

Can Southwest passengers use the SAN Sapphire Lounge? Not practically. Southwest moved to the new Terminal 1, which has no airside connection to Terminal 2, so you'd have to clear security again.

Does Priority Pass work at the San Diego Sapphire Lounge? Only a Chase-issued Priority Pass from an eligible card. Since Aug. 15, 2026, other issuers' Priority Pass memberships don't work here; they still cover the Aspire Lounge.

Is the SAN Sapphire Lounge crowded? Often. Reviewers have reported waits to get in and dense seating, especially at peak times. Use the Chase app waitlist and arrive with some buffer.
