Chase Sapphire Lounge New York (JFK): Access, Guests & Review

By Krit · Updated · How we research

Lounge access rules change often — confirm in the lounge's app or the card's benefits page before you fly.

The Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club with Etihad Airways sits on the upper level of JFK Terminal 4 above gate A2, in the old Etihad lounge space. It's one of the best-looking bank lounges in New York and the only one at JFK where guests are free, but Chase currently flags it as running "temporarily limited operations," so check the app before you count on it.

How to get in

  • Chase Sapphire Reserve: Primary cardholders and authorized users get unlimited visits. Show your physical card or your Chase-issued Priority Pass Select membership plus a same-day Terminal 4 boarding pass, on any airline.
  • J.P. Morgan Reserve and Ritz-Carlton cards: Same access as the Sapphire Reserve. The Ritz-Carlton card is closed to new applicants.
  • Sapphire Reserve for Business: Primary cardmembers only; employee cards don't get in.
  • Etihad passengers: Because this is a joint lounge, Etihad lets premium passengers use it before their flight. Etihad's Abu Dhabi flights leave from Terminal 4.
  • Who no longer gets in: Since Aug. 15, 2026, Sapphire Lounges have left Priority Pass, which ended the one free visit a year that Amex Platinum, Venture X and other Priority Pass members used to get. Priority Pass had already been restricting non-Chase members here at midday and during peak periods. The Sapphire Preferred has no access.

Guest policy

Sapphire Reserve, J.P. Morgan Reserve and Ritz-Carlton cardholders (including authorized users) can bring two guests free; each extra guest is $27, charged to the card, and children under 2 are free. Chase doesn't publish a separate guest allowance for Reserve for Business on its lounge page. Compare that with the Centurion Lounge a few doors away, where guests are $50 each and must be on your flight. For a couple or a family flying from Terminal 4, this is the cheapest lounge to share.

What it's like

The space was Etihad's flagship US lounge before the pandemic, and Chase reworked it rather than starting over. Reviewers praise the tarmac views, with a long bar running along the windows. A Live and Let Fly review (April 2024) found it never crowded on two morning visits, rated the buffet mostly very good, and called the lounge nicer than most domestic airline lounges. Food comes from a buffet that changes through the day plus a made-to-order menu you order by QR code to your seat; Chase lists seasonal menus with halal options and Joe Coffee. The bar has craft cocktails and a curated wine list, though only non-alcoholic drinks are served early in the morning.

There are bookable showers, reflection rooms and private, accessible bathrooms. Seating is split into a main dining area, the bar along the windows and a smaller, quieter section behind a wall.

The current catch is the "temporarily limited operations" notice on Chase's JFK page as of October 2026. Chase doesn't say what's limited, so expect reduced capacity or services and check the Chase app on the day.

Getting there

Clear security at Terminal 4 and head toward the A gates; the lounge is on the upper level above gate A2, near the Centurion Lounge. JFK's terminals aren't connected airside, and the AirTrain is landside, so this lounge only works if you depart from Terminal 4: Delta, Etihad and many other international airlines. JetBlue (Terminal 5) and American (Terminal 8) flyers can't reasonably use it.

Nearby alternatives

Terminal 4 is the strongest credit-card terminal in New York. The Centurion Lounge JFK is next door for Amex Platinum holders, and the 24-hour Capital One Lounge JFK is in the retail hall for Venture X holders. Delta has two Sky Clubs and a Delta One Lounge, and Priority Pass covers the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse and others. See every option in our JFK airport lounges guide.

FAQ

Is the Chase Sapphire Lounge at JFK open? Yes, but as of October 2026 Chase lists it with "temporarily limited operations" and gives no reason or end date. Check the Chase app before you go, and have a backup lounge in Terminal 4.

Can I use Priority Pass at the JFK Sapphire Lounge? Only a Priority Pass membership issued through an eligible Chase card. Since Aug. 15, 2026, Priority Pass from Amex, Capital One, Citi and other issuers no longer works at Sapphire Lounges, including JFK.

Do I have to fly Etihad to use it? No. Despite the Etihad name, Sapphire Reserve cardholders can use it on any airline departing Terminal 4. Etihad premium passengers get in through the airline.

Does the JFK Sapphire Lounge have showers? Yes. Chase lists bookable showers, and reviewers counted three shower suites.

How many guests can I bring? Two free per visit with the Sapphire Reserve, J.P. Morgan Reserve or Ritz-Carlton card; additional guests are $27 each.
