Questions

How do credit card points transfers work?

Transferable bank points — Chase Ultimate Rewards, Amex Membership Rewards, Capital One Miles, Citi ThankYou, Bilt and Wells Fargo Rewards — can be moved into airline and hotel programs at a set ratio. Most are 1:1, but not all: Amex to Hilton is 1:2, Amex to Emirates is 5:4 and Capital One to Emirates is 2:1.5.

Does the card I hold change the ratio?

Sometimes. Chase Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred transfer to World of Hyatt at 4:3, while Sapphire Reserve gets 1:1. Citi Double Cash and Custom Cash points transfer at 70% of the premium-card ratio. Pick your card and the calculator uses its ratio.

Can I reverse a points transfer?

No. Transfers are one-way and can’t be undone, so check award availability with the airline or hotel before you move points.

How is the estimated value worked out?

Points received × KritDeals’ editorial value per point for that program. It is an average — the real value depends on the award you book.
